During Dubai Design Week, the Maker Space came alive with a vibrant programme of masterclasses and hands-on workshops led by regional and international experts. Across the week, the space transformed into a lively hub of making, learning, and creative exchange, welcoming participants of all ages. Visitors explored theory and technique across craft, science, and technology from traditional processes to emerging digital practices offering the chance to pursue, practise, and polish skills across disciplines. Dubai Design Week is held in strategic partnership with Dubai Design District, a member of TECOM Group PJSC, and supported by Dubai Culture.

As Dubai Design Week 2025 comes to a close we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this 11th edition possible: Our sponsors, partners, designers, architects, creative practitioners, volunteers, visitors and the city of Dubai. This week was a celebration of the region’s thriving creative community, bringing together more than 1,000 talents to exchange ideas, showcase innovation and highlight the positive impact of design. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA ) has revealed the 15 shortlisted finalists for its inaugural Middle East Awards. Among them is the ‘World Food Waste Teahouse’ by Mitsubishi Jisho Design, which was showcased at Design week in 2023. The project stands alongside a diverse lineup of nominees, celebrating architectural excellence across the region. The shortlist brings together both regional and international architects from across the GCC, as well as the UK, USA, Germany, Singapore and Japan. It showcases a diverse range of projects, from civic landmarks transforming city life, to innovative responses to climate change and biodiversity loss, adaptive reuse of historic buildings. The winner of the award will be announced during Dubai Design Week on 5 Nov as part of the d3dubai Architecture Exhibition in partnership with RIBA. #DXBDW25 announces ‘Stories of the Isle and the Inlet’, by Maraj, a Bahrain-based architecture and design platform dedicated to research, education and practice, as winners of this year’s Abwab commission! Responding to the theme ‘In the Details’ their winning proposal explores the ecological and cultural layers of Nabih Saleh, a Bahraini island located between Tubli’s wetlands and Sitra’s industrial zone. Combining ornament and oral histories, ’Stories of the Isle and the Inlet’ reflects on a disappearing ecology while raising awareness of environmental preservation and cultural memory. Using locally sourced materials and crafted by Bahraini artisans, the installation tells the spatial story of Nabih Saleh island through layered embroidered textiles inspired by thob al nashil. Featuring native flora, fauna and Tubli Bay’s waters, it reimagines architectural principles through an ornamental language rooted in the island’s ecology. Congratulations to Maraj led by Latifa Alkhayat and Maryam Aljomairi whose installation will be displayed during DXB.DW25. #DXBDW25 Spotlight: Nikken Sekkei Ltd, a leading Japanese design firm known for bespoke, high-end residential and hospitality experiences, presents Chatai at Dubai Design Week 2025. Developed with Sobokuya, renowned for its hand-crafted wooden structures, this pop-up blends the traditional tea room (Chashitsu) with the neighborhood street stall (Yatai), creating a calm, welcoming space where people can gather over tea; in a celebration of Japanese culture through design, craftsmanship, and hospitality.

"Enfold: The Holistic Embrace of Body and Technology" by DEOND unveiled at Dubai Design Week 2024, has been longlisted for the Dezeen Awards 2025 in the interiors category! Dezeen Awards Inspired by biomimicry and crafted from sustainable corrugated cardboard, Enfold explored the harmony of body, mind and technology through light, flow and form.
