What's your game plan? After 1 year of watching my 5 year old race, and not saying more than encouragement and praise for his efforts, I decided give him a game plan at the 'half time' break last weekend. I proposed 3 simple things he can do to win more races. 'I think if you do these 3 things, you can win the race' My exact words. I was so nervous as I mouthed those words because I didn't know if Mr 5 was in the mood that day to absorb my words and intention. I watched with bated breath. He had 2 more races for the afternoon. Race 3 he started strong. He was leading by the first bend. I was already so proud he turned his starting around by implementing what we talked about. Over taken at the second bend. Caught up on the straight Neck and neck on the third bend Slightly ahead on the last straight. And... A WIN!! but just by half a toe, really. I WAS BLOWN AWAY and rushed to the finish line to give him a BIG HIGH 5. After a year of watching him come in 2nd to 4th mostly for his races, he was able to get ahead just by improving his starting techniques. All kudos to him. He finished the 4th race with a clear lead. And my heart just exploded with pride and joy. ** This event made me so reflective on whether I have a strong game plan on all the things I value in life. Your game plan can change your results dramatically. Put the simplest things into consistent action, and you have the foundations of a game plan that you can build on.
