Today we came together with the Friends of Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens, Mary-Anne Thomas MP, Central Highlands Water and Regional Development Victoria to officially open the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens Day Basin 🎉 The project, a few years in the making, has reinvigorated the central precinct of the gardens and features: ♿ increased accessibility ↗️ improvements to the Alf Headland Conservatory ↗️ improvements to the forecourt of the Pioneer Memorial Tower and basin 💧 a recirculating and interactive water-rill feature This project was funded by the Victorian Government, the Friends of the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens and Council.

Council's CEO, Bradley Thomas, and Mayor, Cr Don Henderson, were both in attendance at the latest Greater Ballarat Alliance of Councils meeting, discussing accessible and dependant digital connectivity, First Nations peoples' digital inclusion and state and local Treaty. These meetings, which are often attended by state and federal ministers, help shine a light on the importance of supporting regional communities ❤️
It’s been a busy time for the GBAC Committee, with another valuable meeting held this week with The Hon Natalie Hutchins MP, Minister for Government Services, Treaty and First Peoples, Women and Prevention of Family Violence, and Terry Garwood, Deputy Secretary, First Peoples–State Relations. With the state government's recent Treaty announcement and digital connectivity remaining a key GBAC priority, there was plenty to discuss.
