This week we celebrate — and fondly farewell — Jonathon Main, Executive Manager Trauma, Resilience and Wellbeing Services, as he retires after more than a decade of outstanding service to RASA. Across more than 30 years in the welfare, health, and community sectors, Jonathon has been a steadfast advocate for children and families with complex needs. His leadership has shaped responses to family violence, child protection, homelessness, mental health, and community wellbeing, always guided by a deep commitment to prevention, early intervention, and meaningful system reform. The programs Jonathon has influenced carry his hallmark: principled thinking, rigorous analysis, compassion in practice, and an unwavering belief in the power of collective effort. His work has left a lasting imprint on our organisation and the many communities we serve. Thank you, Jonathon, for your dedication, generosity of spirit, and good humour. We wish you every joy and adventure in your retirement and the chapters ahead.

Relationships Australia South Australia (RASA) is a leading not-for-profit organisation supporting the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities across South Australia. For more than 70 years, we’ve provided confidential counselling, family and relationship support, education, and advocacy services that help people build safe, respectful, and connected lives. We work within a public health paradigm, focusing on prevention, early intervention, and long-term wellbeing for individuals and communities. Our services include post-separation support, family dispute resolution, parenting support, gambling harm, multicultural support, and domestic and family violence support. We also deliver a range of professional development educational courses and nationally recognised training through our RTO, the Australian Institute of Social Relations (AISR). This role provides strategic and operational leadership across RASA’s intensive counselling, trauma recovery, and gambling help services — including support for people affected by institutional and out-of-home care, child sexual abuse, adoption, donor conception, and crime-related harm. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Executive Manager will lead service design, workforce capability, stakeholder engagement, and innovation to ensure that services remain trauma-informed, inclusive, sustainable and aligned with RASA’s mission. Meet our Board’s Deputy Chair, Associate Professor Lorna Hallahan. Lorna has been a social worker for over 40 years and an advocate for people with disability issues since the 1980s. She is a social worker, researcher and disabled person. Lorna has an extensive background in social work practice and leadership, and has practiced in a range of settings, including as Independent Reviewer of the SA Adoptions Act (1988) in 2015. In 2019 she was appointed National Research Director for the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability. Lorna is working towards change in policy and practice as a peer-recognised leader in the Australian disability movement with current board positions, including the National Disability Research Partnership and The Achieve Foundation. She also holds national advisory roles with the National Disability Insurance Scheme Independent Advisory Council and the Australian Research Council. 'RASA combines high purpose with strategic ingenuity and a commitment to build a sustainable, change oriented organisation, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities presented by large scale shifts in our society and in human services.
