  • We’re honoured to announce that Kate Jenkins AO and Professor Nareen Young will headline our International Women’s Day event in Brisbane on 4 March 2026. 💜 Kate (Chair, Australian Sports Commission) has spent her career reshaping how Australia understands safety, respect and accountability in the workplace. From leading national inquiries that changed the legal landscape to guiding big organisations today, her impact continues to influence how we build fairer systems. Professor Nareen Young (Associate Dean, Indigenous Leadership and Engagement, UTS) brings a powerful perspective on leadership, equity and inclusion, shaped by her First Nations and culturally diverse heritage. Her work has shifted how organisations think about diversity — not as a checkbox, but as a driver of meaningful, lasting change. With this year's theme: Balance the Scales, we’re taking an honest look at where progress has stalled and what real accountability and reform must look like for women and girls across Australia. Our IWD events will unite audiences across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and online, creating space for reflection, learning and action. Tickets are now available via https://lnkd.in/gUn4ixN9. #IWD2026 #BalanceTheScales #InternationalWomensDay #ForAllWomenAndGirls #GenderEquality

  • Change starts long before a crisis — it starts with the quiet, uncomfortable moments where boys and men choose to reflect, listen and speak up. In this video, Tarang Chawla speaks to the importance of that discomfort: questioning defensiveness, challenging harmful norms, and having the courage to speak up even when it feels easier to stay silent. These everyday choices shape the culture we all experience. When men step into a place of accountability, allyship and compassion — in group chats, workplaces, friendships and families — they can be leaders in helping to build communities where women and girls can feel safe. This #16Days of Activism, the Safe. Everywhere. Always. Challenge is a reminder that prevention starts with all of us. Every step, swim, ride or roll strengthens the call for a safer, more respectful future. Sign up for the challenge via https://lnkd.in/dqV5FbPx today. #SafeEverywhereAlways #NoExcuse

  • She’s not being dramatic. She’s being targeted. Harassment and deepfakes are violence—on screen and off. • Reporting violence takes immense courage — and for many victim-survivors, the criminal justice process can add layers of fear, uncertainty and retraumatisation. In this video, Prof Heather Douglas from University of Melbourne highlights just how overwhelming that journey can be: navigating police stations, courtrooms, unfamiliar faces and, in some cases, coming face-to-face with the person who harmed them. No one seeking safety and justice should have to endure systems that make them feel smaller, silenced or unsafe. This is why the Safe. Everywhere. Always. campaign calls for responses that protect, support and uphold the rights and dignity of every woman and girl. During the #16Days of Activism, we’re raising awareness and critical funds to help strengthen services, improve systems and ensure survivors are met with compassion — not barriers. Together, let’s build a future where women and girls are #SafeEverywhereAlways Sign up for the challenge via https://lnkd.in/gwZe4GTW #NoExcuse Noelle Steele

  • It starts with one message... Then another, until it becomes a flood of online abuse no one should have to face 🤬 With almost half the world’s women lacking legal protection from online abuse, the system is failing them. • Thank you to everyone who joined us for the two days of the Women in Leadership Summit 2025.   From the keynote sessions to the breakout discussions, your openness, insights and leadership have shaped every moment. These conversations matter and your participation directly supports UN Women Australia’s work to advance women’s leadership, safety, economic empowerment and resilience across the country.   Throughout the Summit, one message resonated strongly: "Meet people at the fence and anchor to a shared purpose", a reminder of how connection and collective intention drive stronger, more resilient leadership.   A special thank you to our organising partner, Women Leaders Institute, for helping bring this important event to life and for their continued commitment to elevating women’s leadership across Australia.    We’re grateful for the energy you brought into the room, the generosity with which you shared your experiences, and the commitment you continue to show in building workplaces and communities where women can thrive.

  • We’re delighted to welcome Christine Holgate live on stage for our International Women’s Day event in Melbourne on 4 March 2026. Christine’s leadership and advocacy have shaped major conversations in Australia, from workplace fairness to gender equality at the highest levels. Her voice is an important addition to this year’s theme, #BalanceTheScales, which calls on all of us to push for systems that genuinely support and protect women and girls. Our IWD 2026 events will take place across four cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth as well as online, bringing people together nationwide to learn, reflect and take action. Tickets are now live via https://lnkd.in/gyQU3YFN. Book today! #IWD2026 #InternationalWomensDay #ForAllWomenAndGirls #GenderEquality
