It was wonderful having Richard Grinold visiting us this week. To many in the industry he is the ‘godfather’ of quantitative investing. He is truly a remarkable man. His contributions to quantitative (systematic) investing are indeed legendary. Richard’s pioneering work on the Fundamental Law of Active Management became a cornerstone of investing worldwide. His research innovations and thought leadership in risk modelling, portfolio construction, and the systematic approach to exploiting security mispricing have had a profound impact on the global asset management industry. Richard’s work continues to inspire and guide investment professionals around the world. Richard's remarkable career is a testament to his innovation, leadership, and excellence in the global asset management industry. From the Chairman of the Finance faculty and Professor at the University of Berkeley (1969-1989) to the Global Research Director at BGI until 2009 and since 2010 as a part of Vinva Investment Management.
