As the holidays draw near, many of us are looking forward to time with family and friends. The end-of-year rush can bring increased pressure, tighter deadlines and a sense of urgency across many industries. But a busy end to the year should not make for a dangerous one. We are urging you to work safe so you can get home safe to the people who matter most. A special thank you to the everyday Victorians who generously shared moments with their loved ones to remind us what truly matters. You can find safety resources for your industry at go.vic.gov.au/3TGPFbj

Quad bikes are one of the leading causes of injury and death on Australian farms, and incidents involving side-by-side vehicles are increasing. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) is reminding farmers, partners, parents and carers of the dangers of quad bikes and side-by-side vehicles. Even experienced riders can be caught off guard. Get home safe by following these steps: • Wear a helmet • Use rollover protection • Do not allow children on adult quad bikes or side-by-side vehicles • Wear a seatbelt when in a side-by-side vehicle. It’s National Asbestos Awareness Week. Asbestos was banned over 20 years ago, but it still lurks in many older buildings, and it can be deadly. Tragically, around 4,000 Australians die each year from asbestos-related diseases. If you’re working with asbestos: • Identify asbestos before you start • Keep an asbestos register • Use licensed removalists • Control exposure risks. Know the risks. Use our interactive tool to spot and manage asbestos in homes and worksites: go.vic.gov.au/3Xg6zli
