Two thirds of people in Canada know a woman who has experienced physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. Approximately 4.7 million women, 15 years of age and older, report that they have experienced sexual assault at least once since the age of 15. More than 4 in 10 women have experienced some form of intimate partner violence (IPV) in their lifetimes. 70% of people who experience spousal violence and 93% of people who experience childhood abuse have not spoken to authorities. Gender-based violence can take physical, mental, emotional, financial, and digital forms. It can happen to anyone. It occurs between people in romantic relationships, in families, at work, and between friends, acquaintances and strangers. Understanding it is crucial: https://lnkd.in/eVuSB4Cn #16Days

The Canadian Women's Foundation reposted this
A projected 80% decrease in Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) funding ahead of the federal budget highlighted a level of precariousness that feminist and 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations and activists have been calling attention to for decades. Then, a week before the budget, came a surprise announcement of more funding. “The sector spoke in one voice and has been loud in terms of wanting to shift a narrative on our work being niche, frivolous, and unserious, and ensuring that people instead understand that actually our work is the real solution to the affordability crises that we are facing,” says Frederique Chabot, co-executive director at Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights.
