#PinkOctober | #ESMO2025 | #GBGResearch Today, we are proud to share new insights from our #BMBC registry, presented as Poster P585 at the ESMO Congress 2025. 🧠 The study “#HER2 #IHC Status of Primary Breast Cancer Tumor and Brain Metastases in the #BMBC Registry” (#GBG79) explores how the HER2 status of primary breast tumors and their brain metastases may differ — and what that means for future treatment options. 🔍 Key findings: ✔️ In many patients, the HER2 status changed between the primary tumor and brain metastases. ✔️ About 65% of patients with brain metastases showed HER2-low, ultralow, or HER2 3+ expression. ✔️ These patients may potentially benefit from new antibody–drug conjugates (#ADCs) such as #Trastuzumab #Deruxtecan (T-DXd). ✔️ The HER2 status in brain metastases was also linked to overall #survival, suggesting it could serve as a #prognostic marker. 💡 These results highlight the importance of retesting HER2 status in metastatic sites and open the door to new, targeted treatment opportunities — even for patients previously classified as HER2-negative. #PATINA Trial: Maintaining Quality of Life with Palbociclib in HR+/HER2+ Metastatic Breast Cancer New data from the phase III PATINA trial (#AFT-38; #GBG94) show that adding #palbociclib to maintenance #HER2-targeted therapy and endocrine therapy significantly prolongs progression-free survival (#PFS) in patients with HR+/HER2+ metastatic breast cancer — without compromising quality of life. ✅ Key findings: 📌 Health-related quality of life (#HRQoL) remained stable throughout treatment in both study arms. 📌 No significant differences in patient-reported symptoms or overall well-being were observed. 📌 This confirms that patients can gain meaningful #survival benefits from palbociclib while maintaining daily functioning and overall health. These results highlight a favorable benefit-risk profile for incorporating palbociclib-based maintenance therapy in the first-line setting — offering patients longer disease control with sustained quality of life. #ESMO2025 Highlight 🌟 At this year’s ESMO Congress in Berlin, Prof. Dr. med. Sibylle Loibl presented important new findings from the #DESTINY-Breast09 study (LBA18) in the Presidential Symposium, focusing on the treatment of patients with #HER2-positive advanced or metastatic breast cancer. 🔬 About the study: DESTINY-Breast09 is a phase III, randomized, multicenter trial comparing #trastuzumab #deruxtecan (T-DXd) + #pertuzumab with the standard therapy taxane + trastuzumab + pertuzumab (THP) as first-line treatment for HER2+ advanced/metastatic breast cancer. ✨ Key findings: ✔️ T-DXd + pertuzumab achieved a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in progression-free survival (#PFS) compared to THP. ✔️ Benefits were consistent across all patient subgroups, regardless of prior treatment status (de-novo or recurrent disease), hormone receptor status, or #PIK3CA mutation. ✔️ Complete response rates and duration of response favored T-DXd + pertuzumab in all analyses. ✔️ Safety was manageable and in line with previous data — no new safety signals were detected. 💡 Clinical relevance: These results underline that T-DXd + pertuzumab could become a highly effective first-line therapy option for patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer, independent of biological or treatment history.
