Prakalp 2025 (sixth edition) brought Biocon, Syngene International Limited, and Biocon Biologics together for a day dedicated to the discipline of turning ideas into reality. Prakalp, rooted in Sanskrit, symbolizes the journey from imagination (kalpana) to realization (pratyaksha)—a fitting reflection of the project and program leaders who move our most complex initiatives forward with clarity, collaboration, and execution excellence. This annual series continues to reinforce the power of disciplined program management across the Group.
We were honored to host Shiv Shivakumar as our Chief Guest—a distinguished business leader who has served as Chairman & CEO, PepsiCo India; Managing Director, Nokia India; and Group Executive President, Strategy & Business Development at the Aditya Birla Group. He now serves as an Operating Partner at Advent International and sits on global advisory boards including The Economist. He is also the bestselling author of “The CEO Mindset.”
In his keynote, Shiv offered a sharp and deeply grounded perspective on the evolving role of project and program managers. He spoke about the responsibility of translating strategy into action, the discipline of alignment, and the importance of feedback at every step—principles at the heart of Prakalp’s ethos.
To illustrate this, he shared two striking perspectives that resonated with every program manager in the room. He drew a parallel to an air traffic controller—someone who earns 110% trust from pilots through crystal-clear communication, immediate risk transparency, and zero personal agenda. When an instruction is issued, pilots do not debate—they act.
He then referenced Phil Jackson’s guidance to Michael Jordan: to change how he measured success. Instead of focusing only on points scored, Jordan was encouraged to value the passes, screens, and unseen plays that made the entire team unstoppable. Shiv emphasised that this shift in mindset is the true measure of a program manager’s impact—the success one enables in others.
Our leaders reinforced how strong project leadership and program management powers the Biocon Group’s long-term momentum and global impact.
“Program management demands boldness, honesty, and the courage to call a spade a spade—regardless of hierarchy or seniority. Program and project managers serve as the eyes and ears of leadership, providing clarity, truth, and direction,” said Shreehas Tambe, CEO & Managing Director, Biocon Biologics.
“Adopt a ‘team of teams’ mindset—collaboration across disciplines ensures the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” said Peter Bains
Prakalp serves as our annual commitment to elevating how we plan, build, and deliver with purpose.
