📺 L’Amministratore Delegato di e-GEOS C. Milena A. Lerario e il Direttore del Centro Spaziale di Matera, Stefano Micheli, ospiti di TRM, hanno raccontato il ruolo strategico di Matera nel panorama internazionale dell’Osservazione della Terra e il contributo che il Centro offre ai più ambiziosi programmi, come COSMO-SkyMed e #Copernicus. 📡 Durante l’intervista sono stati approfonditi i servizi operativi che ogni giorno vengono erogati dall'e-GEOS Matera Space Centre, a supporto della gestione del territorio e dell’innovazione applicata alle sfide ambientali e sociali di oggi. L’Agenzia Spaziale Italiana e e-GEOS hanno accolto l’Ambasciatore del Giappone in Italia, Suzuki Satoshi, in visita al Centro Spaziale di Matera. La delegazione ha avuto l’opportunità di visitare le sale di controllo dei più avanzati servizi di Osservazione della Terra. Particolare attenzione è stata dedicata alle attività del Centro di Matera legate al segmento di terra della missione COSMO-SkyMed dell’ASI e del Ministero della Difesa, per la quale e-GEOS è il distributore esclusivo globale dei dati per l’utenza commerciale. La visita ha confermato il ruolo di Matera come polo strategico internazionale per l’Osservazione della Terra: un ecosistema in cui infrastrutture all’avanguardia, tecnologie ad alte prestazioni e competenze specialistiche convergono per fornire servizi cruciali a istituzioni e utenti di tutto il mondo, a supporto dei principali programmi spaziali. 🇮🇹🇯🇵 Yesterday, we had the honour of hosting the 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲, H.E. Suzuki Satoshi, at the 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞. The delegation was welcomed by the e-GEOS CEO C. Milena A. Lerario, along with representatives from local institutions led by the Mayor of Matera Antonio Nicoletti, and from Agenzia Spaziale Italiana led by the Director of Security, IT Systems and Digitalisation Lorenzo Chessa. 📡 The delegation visited both the e-GEOS Matera Space Centre and the ASI “Giuseppe Colombo” Space Geodesy Centre, gaining access to the heart of the Control Rooms where the most advanced #EarthObservation services are delivered daily. 🌍 The visit confirmed #Matera as a strategic international hub for Earth Observation, where advanced infrastructure, cutting-edge technologies, and scientific excellence provide essential services in support of major #Geoinformation programmes, in line with Leonardo's strategic vision and its capabilities in the EO space domain. 🎤 C. #Leonardo presents the #MichelangeloDome, an advanced integrated defence system designed to respond to emerging threats in an increasingly complex global scenario. The project stems from the need to defend and protect critical infrastructure, sensitive urban areas, territories, and assets of national and European interest through a modular, open, scalable, and multi-domain solution. It introduces a new defence paradigm: the simultaneous and integrated management of heterogeneous threats, using an approach that leverages the interconnection between air, sea, land, and space, within a cyber-secure environment supported by a sophisticated artificial intelligence system. Thanks to the advanced fusion of data from multiple sensors and the use of predictive algorithms, the Michelangelo Dome is able to anticipate hostile behaviour, optimise operational responses and automatically coordinate the most suitable effectors. 🚀 Sentinel-1D Delivers Its First Stunning Images: From Antarctica to Bremen in Less Than 50 Hours After Launch. At the European Space Agency - ESA’s Ministerial Council, the first high-resolution images from the newly launched Copernicus Sentinel-1D satellite were unveiled, showcasing impressive views of Antarctica’s glaciers, the tip of South America, and the city of Bremen.   These images are more than visually striking: they mark a technical achievement without precedent. The satellite was activated, acquired data, and downlinked it to Earth in record time, setting a new benchmark for space-based radar observation.   We are proud that our technology is performing exactly as intended, meeting ESA and European Commission’s expectations: a powerful demonstration of Thales Alenia Space ability to turn vision into results.   🌍 Sentinel-1D’s first images remind us of the fragility of Earth’s glaciers and the importance of reliable, timely data to support science-based decisions and policies. #Sentinel1D has captured its first outstanding radar images! The satellite, part of the Copernicus #Sentinel1 mission, contributes to delivering continuous, all-weather, day-and-night radar images of Earth to support disaster response, environmental protection and climate monitoring. Earth observation is a vital and strategic domain for understanding and addressing global challenges, while strengthening Europe’s technological leadership. The Copernicus programme, led by the European Space Agency - ESA together with the European Commission, embodies this vision. As a key industrial partner of Copernicus, the Leonardo Group – together with its joint ventures Thales Alenia Space, Telespazio and e-GEOS – contributes across the programme: from the design and development of satellites, advanced sensors and instruments to the management and analysis of satellite data. For Sentinel-1D, #LeonardoSpace also supplied the attitude control sensors, and the power units that supply the radar and ensure the continuous availability of images.
