Over 500 young environmental leaders from 70+ countries gathered in Nairobi for the Youth Environment Assembly #YEA2025 — a forum designed to ensure young people’s voices are included and heard. On 7 Dec, the Global Youth Declaration on the Environment, a document that represents the collective voice of youth and which will be presented to world leaders at #UNEA7, will be launched. Renewable energy is cheaper and more accessible than ever, but many countries still can’t use it fully due to outdated, inflexible grids. At #COP30, together with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and Ministero dell'Ambiente e della Sicurezza Energetica, UNEP announced that the next phase of the 3DEN Initiative will help countries modernise energy and agri-food systems through renewables and power system improvements: https://lnkd.in/eamqH_JV

One million of the world’s species of plants and animals are threatened with extinction. From the African elephant to the snow leopard, the pressure humans are putting on biodiversity is staggering. On average, 25% of plant and animal species are threatened with extinction, driven in part by illegal trade and over-exploitation. This week, countries are meeting to make decisions on CITES, the convention that helps protect more than 40,900 species of wild animals and plants and regulates their trade.
