Meet Damian Durczok, AI Solutions Architect based in Kraków, Poland. Damian and his team develop solutions that streamline the daily work of his colleagues and increase their productivity.    "The most successful AI implementations are those that become a natural extension of the way humans already work. Engineers get the right information at the right time, product teams can iterate faster, and decision-makers have access to better data without having to tediously search for it," says Damian.    In the evenings, Damian continues his winning streak by competing in our company’s football league, which brings together people from different parts of the company. With a mantra of ‘the only constant is change’, Piyush Khatri has always looked for challenges and stepped outside of his comfort zone to develop his skills. This mindset has allowed him to explore multiple industries and since 2019, he has been a business controller in our Opening Solutions division in Pune, India.     Piyush is driving strategic projects and aligning operations with targets and performance metrics. On a day to day, he also engages with internal and external stakeholders to monitor sales, price realization and credit control, for example.    “I communicate with the business and front-line teams, addressing their potential concerns and support them with insights to use as a basis for decision-making. Usually, the day flies by, and many times I do not know how the time ticked by at the end of the day,” he laughs. “I enjoy observing the change in the way people working after guiding them and to follow how these changes are reflected in positive figures.”    Piyush describes himself as passionate and dedicated to work, and achieving a sense of satisfaction is a must for him. When not working, he relishes oil painting and long bike rides on the weekends. He resides in Pune, India, and his closest family is his daughter, wife and mother. Looking for your next opportunity? Recently, Abigail Tidmarsh, our Head of Talent Management, sat down with Emma Grönlund, Director of Strategy, for an inspiring career conversation about the many opportunities available within ASSA ABLOY. Emma brings a wealth of experience from her time with the company. Her journey began 12 years ago when she joined as a student, completing her master’s thesis with ASSA ABLOY in both Australia and China. After graduating, Emma started her professional career with the Opening Solutions division in Hong Kong. “I started within operations, spending a lot of time in factories. Then I moved into business development. After five years in Hong Kong, I felt that I wanted to move home to Sweden again. And it was great that I could transfer over to Global Solutions at that time, which was quite a new division”, says Emma. Finding new opportunities within the Group is something Emma emphasizes is supported both by leadership and the global organization you are a part of. “I had a very open dialogue with my manager about wanting to relocate, so it was great that we found a fitting opportunity. Since we are a global business, there's so much opportunity. That is really one of the benefits of being part of ASSA ABLOY, that we are almost everywhere in the world.” Over the years, Emma has been part of development programs and changed role internally to support both her personal and professional growth. When moving to Sweden she joined Global Solutions to drive the transformation of the fast-growing division. This later led to her stepping in to her current role – Director of Strategy for Global Solutions. “I’m very grateful for the varied roles I’ve had over the years because I've learned so many different things. From starting off in operations, which closely aligned with my studies, to building strong internal networks and having the support of my managers, I’ve been able to take on a variety of roles — making this an incredibly exciting journey. In only three months, colleagues from across ASSA ABLOY tested and rolled out Cursor, an AI coding tool now used by hundreds of developers in the company. The secret was simple: trust, shared purpose and working together across divisions. This initiative aims to boost software developer productivity using AI. The R&D Services team acted as a connector and enabler, bringing together a cross-divisional core team fostering collaboration and innovation. This leads to tangible productivity gains, accelerated project timelines, more aligned to customer needs and better products. “We didn’t need to build alignment—we had it. That trust allowed us to move fast when the opportunity appeared” says Wouter Gardeyn. What we learn from this story is that even in a very decentralized organization like ASSA ABLOY, collaboration powered by trust, leads to faster implementation and change. What inspires someone to pursue a career in IT? For Robin Schönström Malmgren, it all started with a home PC – a computer that opened up a whole new world of electronics, programming, gaming, and community. His curiosity for IT has been a consistent thread throughout his career, ultimately leading him to his current role as Group Information Security Risk & Compliance Manager at ASSA ABLOY. After earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration, Robin entered the world of auditing, where he quickly realized how powerful – and vulnerable – data can be. His interest in information security grew, and when the opportunity arose to work with this area at ASSA ABLOY, a company he had always associated with innovation and safety, the decision was easy. “When the opportunity came to work with information security and risk management at ASSA ABLOY, I immediately felt it was the right fit. Here, I get to combine everything I’m passionate about – technology, business strategy, and protecting what matters most: our people and our information.” For Robin, the best part of the job is helping shift the perception of security – from being seen as a barrier to becoming an enabler of innovation in a safe and sustainable way. He also values the continuous learning: “Without a doubt, it’s the constant challenge and development within information security, and the chance to work alongside my brilliant colleagues to help reshape how security is viewed.” Robin’s advice for anyone considering a career in IT: “IT is so much more than code and networks. It’s about user experience, insights, strategy, and transformation. There are countless areas to explore – and while it’s great to gain a broad understanding early on, my advice is to also dare to specialize in order to truly create value.” Looking for your next opportunity?
