👨👩👧👦 Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy where members of a family attend sessions together. Based on the understanding that family dynamics are integral to our mental wellbeing, it's designed to create a safe, supportive environment for every family member, Family therapy can help families to: 💬Communicate more effectively The therapist creates a safe space for every member to share their feelings openly, which can help to reduce misunderstandings. 💥Resolve conflict Therapy can help members of a family to navigate conflict in a constructive way, avoiding escalation and communication breakdown. 💕Build empathy Family therapy can improve empathy and understanding, by encouraging family members to view problems and situations from each other’s point of view. 🤝Support each other A therapist can guide a family in offering effective support when one member is struggling with addiction, illness, or mental health issues. 🌄Navigate crises together Family therapy can provide tools to help a family process and heal from shared events like grief, trauma, and major life transitions. #FamilyDynamics #Family #FamilyWellbeing #LyraWellbeing

I was just about to do it!” If this kind of conversation sounds familiar, you'll be pleased to know that conflict resolution is a skill you can learn. Through Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), you can learn to: 💬Communicate more effectively 💕Understand and empathize with each other 💥Resolve disagreements constructively #FamilyDynamics #FamilyTherapy #FamilyWellbeing #WellnessWednesday #LyraWellbeing

We don't always see eye-to-eye with the people closest to us. And while disagreements are all part of family life, conflict can leave us feeling hurt, frustrated, and emotionally distant from our loved ones. When tensions rise, try taking a break. A few slow, deep breaths can calm your nervous system, while an affirmation like the one below can ground you and reinforce your self-worth. “I am worthy of love, respect, and healthy relationships.” #SelfWorth #SelfCompassion #SelfLove #LyraWellbeing

When life gets busy, finding time for our loved ones can be tricky, and it's easy to take those relationships for granted. Closeness isn't necessarily about spending lots of time together - it's more about connecting intentionally, and making sure the time you do spend together counts. Small changes can make a big difference. Here’s how… Prioritize quality time Spend regular quality time together, without distractions. You could plan a family movie night, play a game, or just chat about your favorite memories together. Check in with each other Make time for every family member to share what's happening in their lives - this could be at breakfast, during dinner, or before bed. Really listen to each other, so everyone feels heard. Say “thank you” often Make it a habit to remind each other of your love and appreciation. A simple “thank you,” a thoughtful text, or an unexpected act of kindness goes a long way in showing you care. Tackle chores together Team up to tackle household chores and tasks. This can improve communication, and bring family members together with a sense of shared purpose. Make new memories together New experiences can foster shared growth and bonding, and help you create memories you’ll look back on for years to come. #Family #FamilyTime #QualityTime #Connection #LyraWellbeing

The word ‘family’ means different things to different people. For many of us, it’s about more than just DNA. It’s the people we choose - the ones who show up without being asked, who listen without judgment, and who are there for us when things feel tough. No matter what your family looks like, it should be a safe haven - a space where you can be completely yourself. What does family mean to you? Let us know in the comments below. #Family #ChosenFamily #LyraWellbeing #WellnessWednesday

Sometimes, we forget to appreciate the people who are always there for us. This simple affirmation can help to remind you of the value and importance of friends and family, and encourage you to invest in those relationships every day. #Gratitude #Family #Friendship #Affirmation #MindfulMonday #LyraWellbeing

The way we cope with our emotions is the first lesson our children learn in how to handle and express their own feelings. When they see us handling our feelings in a healthy way, they're learning that all emotions - from frustration and stress to sadness, as well as joy, hope, and love - are valid. There’s no such thing as a perfect parent or caregiver, and you won’t get it right every time. But by making a conscious effort to model healthy emotional expression, you're actively helping your kids grow into confident, resilient people who feel safe being their true selves. Show them healthy ways to cope Teach your children healthy ways to cope with challenging emotions, like stress, frustration, and overwhelm. For example, you could say: “I’m feeling stressed, so I’m going to try taking some deep breaths to calm myself down.” Be gentle with yourself Show them that mistakes are part of being human, and be kind to yourself when you make them. For example: “Whoops, I accidentally smashed that glass. That’s annoying, but it happens to everyone!” Name your emotions Teach your kids how to articulate their own feelings by naming yours out loud. For example: "I feel a little nervous about my presentation tomorrow, but I know I’ve prepared enough and I’m going to do my best." Share positive emotions Help your children to feel safe and confident sharing positive emotions like pride, excitement, and joy, too. For example, you could tell them: “I’m feeling really proud of myself for finishing that big project.” Teach them how to apologize Model emotional accountability by apologizing when your feelings cause you to snap or say something you don’t mean. For example: “I apologize for raising my voice, I can see that it hurt your feelings. Can we have a fresh start?” #Parenting #ParentingTips #Emotions #EmotionalExpression #MindfulParenting #SelfCompassion

Parenting can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving you emotionally exhausted, drained, and disconnected from your kids. This isn’t a sign of failure - it just means that, right now, stress is outweighing your resources. If you’re feeling like this, here’s a reminder to seek support from the people around you. Don’t struggle alone - reach out and ask for the help you need. #Parenting #Burnout #MentalHealth #WellnessWednesday #LyraWellbeing
