With AI still dominating the conversation, take a look at some of our most-read papers from November. We examine its role in alpha generation – and why some bond investors are skeptical of the hype . Meet AlphaGPT, our new AI research analyst that can process vast amounts of financial data in seconds. Our key finding? Human and AI researchers together create a more comprehensive research landscape than either could achieve alone. https://ow.ly/kbXc50Xz8Rw As hyperscalers operators look to public debt markets to fund data centres, Jonathan Lahraoui, CFA and Hugo Richardson outline why bond investors aren’t fully sold: including real-world risks like power shortages, construction delays and rapidly ageing technology. https://ow.ly/XnrR50Xz8Qz Historically, more investors have lost money trying to call the top of a bubble than have made money from it. Sumant Wahi explains why trying to time the AI bubble is a fool's errand – and shares a different approach: understanding where tech profits are growing and contracting, and positioning accordingly. https://ow.ly/NFU350Xz8P5 2025 has tested trend-following investors, but the toughest markets often present opportunities. Yesterday we hosted Anthropic for a full-day workshop and hackathon, bringing the team behind Claude AI into Man Group to explore practical applications of large language models in systematic investment management. The team walked us through real-world applications and best practices, then we dove straight into a hands-on hackathon, building AI integrations with our internal tools. Our teams explored real use cases and developed prototypes on our own systems. Thank you to Anthropic, Margot van Laar, David Papamichael, Freddie Cornish and to everyone who took part.

He explores three areas that he believes will define the next generation of systematic investing – AI as a research accelerator, the expansion of the investable universe and the reimagining of risk management. Historically, more investors have lost money trying to call the top of a bubble than have made money from it. So, trying to time it is a fool’s errand, according to Sumant Wahi in this week’s Views from the Floor. In the case of AI, it may be wiser to understand where in the tech sector profits are growing and contracting and position. This isn't about avoiding volatility but about building portfolio resilience when a pullback comes. https://ow.ly/Kv9K50XxoQ0

Over the last 40 years, gold’s correlation to a 60/40 portfolio has, on average, been opposite in sign to that of the stock-bond correlation, clearly demonstrating gold’s ability to provide diversification benefits. In the latest episode of A Sustainable Future, Jason Mitchell speaks with Dr Kevin Stiroh, senior fellow at Resources for the Future and former executive at the Federal Reserve. Together, they examine the pivotal role of central banks in addressing climate change, exploring how physical and transition risks impact financial stability, why evolving prudential frameworks are critical, and how supervisory tools like scenario analysis can prepare the banking sector for an uncertain future. Kevin also shares his thoughts on the "tragedy of the horizons", the interplay between short-term financial stability and long-term climate risks, and how global regulators can harmonise approaches despite differing mandates and political realities. Listen now to understand how central banks and policymakers are managing the financial risks of climate change: https://ow.ly/sqcV50Xuzvv

As the UK budget looms, investors are asking if Chancellor Rachel Reeves can avoid another ‘Liz Truss’ moment, where unfunded tax cuts sent yields spiralling and the bond vigilantes came out.
