What is the 100-Year Plan?
The WordPress.com 100-Year hosting plan is designed exclusively for those seeking the ultimate security and longevity of their digital presence. This plan is perfect for cultural organizations, generational companies, super-creators, and artists that want to ensure their content never goes away. It’s for anyone looking to protect their digital assets and create a flexible, personalized online space that can adapt to future technological changes. Are there ways to pay other than a credit card?
Yes, we are happy to send an invoice with wire or corporate check instructions. Just schedule an intro call with us and we will find the best payment method that works for you.
What is included in the price?
The 100-Year Plan is a special formulation of our Business plan which includes lightning fast speeds, daily backups and enhanced security. Any content that is part of a 100-Year product will also be specially flagged for external archiving with organizations such as Archive.org and the Wayback Machine. We also integrate plugins, scripts and other tools in order to integrate with backups and archival services as they are available with the intent to preserve the content. If you don’t want your content backed up with third parties, you can opt out of this with our customer service and integration team. Occasionally, we need to make changes to our plans to add or remove features. If we add/remove features to the Business plan or 100-Year Plan, then we will give advance notice to users. In addition, your account will be held in a special internal trust system to allow for the best security and continuity over the next century.
This is a big commitment. Can I talk with someone about this before purchasing?
Of course! We understand this is not your average plan and you may have many questions. We encourage everyone interested in the Plan to set up a brief chat with our Director of Long-term Futures or our dedicated Happiness Engineers to discuss the specifics.
What happens in the event that Automattic Inc. goes out of business or cannot continue to host the site?
While our intent is to be around for the next century and host your site, we realize that it is not possible to guarantee this. Therefore, we will keep all 100-Year product accounts in a specially designated internal trust account system. This system may change over the years, but the primary goals are to:
1) Make sure these accounts are flagged internally (to Automattic Inc.) as 100-Year Accounts.
2) Have Automattic Inc (or one of its subsidiaries such as WordPress.com) be listed as an account owner, administrator, billing, or admin contact in order to maintain the product in the event the customer is not responding.
3) Allow for these accounts to be continued by an outside service if for any reason in the future Automattic Inc cannot complete the term of the agreement.We are investing a significant portion of the funds we receive for each purchase in a long-term account in order to mitigate inflation, and handle any migration or other expenses that may arise. These protocols and policies will allow Automattic Inc. to ensure there are always resources to fulfill the responsibilities of hosting, manage all accounts, plans and domain names. What’s the refund policy?
From the time of purchase we will allow refunds for up to 120 days after the initial date of sale. Automattic will not give prorated refunds after this period as long as Automattic is providing the services described. If the purchase is made in a currency other than USD, any refunded amount will be calculated based on the USD amount that was received by WordPress.com at the time of purchase. In some cases, hard costs may be deducted from the refunded amount. See further details for special refund cases on the features page.
Can I transfer the 100-Year Plan?
Yes, of course. We have existing transfer protocols for subscriptions that will apply. Further, we have protocols in place for taking ownership of accounts in case we stop hearing from you for any reason that would apply. The 100-Year Plans will be part of a special numbered account that is held in trust by Automattic Inc. for the user, so we can ensure our team can administer it over the next century.
How secure is my site?
For all 100-Year Plans at WordPress.com, we handle security protection at the highest level on your behalf. Our comprehensive security approach includes default encryption (SSL for all domains), daily scans through Jetpack to detect vulnerabilities, automatic backups, firewalls to block unauthorized access, continuous monitoring for suspicious activity, and a dedicated security team. The 100-Year Plan also includes access to scanning history, daily backups, and extra support, ensuring maximum protection and quick threat resolution for your WordPress.com site.
Can I also purchase a 100-Year domain name?
Each 100-Year Plan includes a 100-Year Domain. Choose or transfer your .com, .org, .net or .blog domain name for a full century, ensuring you never lose them to expiration. It’s a perfect solution for anyone seeking lasting stability in the digital world. You can also purchase additional 100-Year Domains separately.
