Official Announcement on OpenArm Purchases

Hi everyone, and thank you so much for your incredible interest in OpenArm!!

Background & Challenge

When we first released OpenArm, we never imagined this much enthusiasm worldwide. We’re thrilled to see so many vendors helping bring OpenArm hardware into the hands of users everywhere.

At the same time, we also recognize the current challenge:
There are now multiple vendors producing arms at very different price points and quality levels. This has caused confusion about where to purchase from, and we acknowledge that we should have stepped in earlier to guide the community. Our deep apologies for that.

Our Next Steps

Our priority is to make OpenArm both accessible worldwide and reliable in quality, so that every arm meets a consistent standard.

To move toward this goal, we will be defining the minimum quality standards for vendors, and we will publish a list of vendors those who meet these standards on all public OpenArm websites/documentations. We’ve already begun visiting and evaluating several vendors to start this process, and we’ll continue working to ensure that everyone in the community can purchase with confidence.

⚠️ Clarification on “Official” Vendors

Right now, OpenArm has not officially certified any vendors yet.
We’ve seen some vendors claiming to be “official” in order to gain advantages (for example, in motor procurement). If you are a vendor making such claims, please remove any mention of being ‘official’ from your public materials immediately.

Moving Forward

OpenArm is, and always will be, an open-source project. We’re excited to keep working with the community and vendors around the world to make OpenArm stronger, more reliable, and more impactful together.
