Today, Growing Up Green (an amazing school doing amazing things, located in New York State) launched the emergency GUG Food Assistance Program to support their families through the government shutdown and loss of SNAP (government food assistance) benefits. Families may be in critical need of food assistance in the coming weeks. The food assistance received through SNAP provides essential, necessary food for survival for many families--food which they will have difficulties purchasing starting November 1st. GUG's goal is to assemble small grocery bags with non-perishable essential items and distribute them twice a week to families who need assistance. While this supplemental support will not fully replace their SNAP benefits, we hope it helps them get through this very difficult time. If you are able to help in any way at all, they would greatly appreciate it if you could make a donation to the Emergency Food Assistance Fund.
