About us
Beartooth Billings Clinic is a 10 bed (Acute/Swing) Critical Access Hospital, with a Trauma Receiving Facility Emergency Department and Provider Clinic collocated under one roof in Red Lodge, Montana. In addition, we offer home care, hospice, rehabilitation, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging services. We have been in our new state-of-the-art location since 2010. Serving Carbon County and parts of northern Wyoming, we are located at the base of the Beartooth Highway, and adjacent to the Beartooth Mountains, where 4 season recreational opportunities such as fly fishing, skiing, kayaking and hunting abound. We are affiliated with the Billings Clinic regional health system (60 miles from Billings), but remain a privately owned, not-for-profit entity. Our friendly, eclectic community has enjoyed quality rural health care for over 60 years.

We are proud of Derek Stiegemeier and very lucky he is a part of the Beartooth team.
Meet the Class of 2026! Derek Stiegemeier - Chief Operating Officer, Beartooth Billings Clinic Derek has over 19 years of experience working in health care as both a physical therapist and administrator, working across all areas of care from private practice to homecare. More recently, he has taken on the role of Chief Operating Officer for Beartooth Billings Clinic and oversees facility expansion projects, lean six projects, maintenance services, culinary services, as well as the outpatient ancillary services teams. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Montana and an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science with minors in Biology and Psychology from Rocky Mountain College. Further postgraduate work includes Board Certification in Orthopedics, Certified Orthopedic Manipulative Therapist, APTA Certified Clinic Instructor, Change Management Specialist, and Certified Executive Coach and Mentor. Outside of his role at Beartooth, he supports and/or teaches courses on Manual Physical Therapy, Pain Science, and classes focused on Change Management for Leaders and Patient Care. He is the outgoing president of the Beartooth Trails Association, as well as an active board member and alpine coach for Silver Run Ski Foundation.
