"The experiential parts are what we feel brings the personality to our loyalty program. If we're going to be the best high-quality meat and seafood brand online, then we knew we had to do things that felt like they had the personality of our customers, which came from listening to them." Hear more from our Chief Commercial Officer, Reba Hatcher and Melissa Daniels on the Modern Retail Podcast about our growing loyalty program and the key elements that set the program apart. https://lnkd.in/eNYhuQ6U

Since day one of ButcherBox, Mike Salguero has led with the philosophy that building a great company must start with understanding the people who are building it. He, and Eliza Jackson, recently joined Sarah Wallace for the Enneagram MBA podcast to talk about the culture of the Enneagram at ButcherBox and how it's been integrated at every level, whether during onboarding, building leadership development, or even in feedback conversations. The Enneagram isn't about personality tests or work styles, it's about creating a deeper understanding of one's whole self. By fostering a culture where people bring their whole selves to work, understand each other deeply, and communicate with a shared language, we've built a foundation of self-awareness that drives everything from problem-solving to celebrating wins. Tune in to hear how we're building a people-first culture that drives real business results while also getting a sneak peek at how two different Enneagram types (2 & 7) can identify the best ways of working together and balance one another out. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/e_UA8GEK

At ButcherBox, customer obsession is one of our core values and something we take an enormous amount of pride in. Last October we launched our loyalty program, Sizzle Society, which kickstarted an opportunity to show our customers what it means to be a part of something better on a much deeper level. What followed in the last twelve months has been thousands of earned points, dozens of community events, new partner connections, delicious food, cooking classes, and everything in between. We can’t wait for all that’s to come as we continue to build connections within our community.

Over the course of the last decade, ButcherBox has delivered more than one billion high-quality, humanely raised meals to our customers’ doorsteps. We continue to be honored and humbled that these billion meals brought our customers together, gave them confidence in knowing exactly where their food came from, and drove conversations with families and friends about why this stuff matters. Our customers haven’t just bought meat and seafood from ButcherBox, they’ve become part of a movement changing how the industry works by supporting ranchers, farmers, and fishermen doing things the right way. When our community serves ButcherBox at their table, they’ve proven that convenience and quality don't have to be mutually exclusive. Cheers to Mike Salguero and the rest of our team on this amazing accomplishment. Tune in below to watch how the last decade has unfolded.

Better meat and seafood should be on every table including school lunch tables. Today, we’re launching the Raise the Tray campaign to improve the quality of school meals across the U.S. The reality is there are currently *NO* quality standards for meat and seafood in the National School Lunch Program, despite nearly 30 million children relying on these meals daily. Our team wholeheartedly believes this is a gap we can help close. We've spent a decade proving that transparency and quality standards create better outcomes in the meat industry. Now we're applying that same principle to advocate for clear standards in school nutrition programs which has been done with whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Our ask to the USDA is straightforward: implement quality standards that prohibit meat produced with antibiotics and artificial preservatives in school lunch programs. Our mission to bring better meat and seafood to every table doesn't stop at the kitchen table, it extends to the cafeteria table too. Ready to join us? We've created a petition to help drive this change forward and hope our industry partners, customers, and friends of the brand can join to help us Raise the Tray for schools across the U.S https://chng.it/NtfVLnh2B6

Transparency isn't just a buzzword at ButcherBox, it's the foundation of our success. Mike Salguero believes that when employees truly understand the business, everyone wins. That's why every month we do a deep dive into the business for our financial and operational review where every department shares wins, challenges, and what's coming in the month ahead. This level of transparency is the catalyst to performance. Read more from Annabel Burba in her piece for Inc. Magazine ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eU9mMYtF

“I’d prefer to work with people for a long period of time, versus just cycling through people every two or three years." -- Mike Salguero founder & CEO of ButcherBox In celebration of our 4th appearance on Inc. We're speaking up for better food standards (again)! At ButcherBox, we’re on a mission to bring better meat and seafood to every table. We believe consumers deserve to know how their food is raised and that's why we partner with farmers who prioritize animal welfare—no crates, no antibiotics, no added hormones, no shortcuts. It’s why our pork has always been crate-free—and why we’ve long supported Proposition 12 and Massachusetts’ Question 3, two voter-passed laws that require more humane conditions for farm animals and restrict the sale of pork that doesn’t meet those standards. These laws reflect what our members want: food raised with integrity. But here's the thing: there's a new bill in Congress called "The Food Security and Farm Protection Act" that could roll back these protections. It's the same fight we faced last year, just with a different name. Last year, we gathered 20+ food companies to help us stand up for these standards—and we're doing it again. Because when you care about how your food is raised, we think lawmakers should listen. So, it’s time to speak up (again). Today, we're reissuing our open letter urging Congress to reject this Act and reminding them that the food industry, and the American public, remains firmly opposed to any federal effort that compromises animal welfare or consumer protections. Happy birthday to ourselves! From a living room to serving millions of customers and billions of meals... here's to 10 more years of helping people Feel Better with BUTCHERBOX!
10 years ago, I started ButcherBox out of my living room. I didn't have investors or money, but I had a very strong sense of what needed to be done. After reading Michael Pollan's Omnivore's Dilemma, I was appalled to learn that my meat came from CAFOs (Confined Animal Feeding Operations). And I wanted better. So we launched a business with that in mind. Not to bring meat and seafood to your door conveniently and at a great value, but to change a system. I woke up in the middle of the night with these images burning in my head... there are a lot of people trying to be ButcherBox. But not enough trying to change the world. Thank you to all of you for your friendship, for working alongside me, and for supporting us by being members. Its been an incredible 10 years!
