CalPortland had the privilege of participating in the 44th Annual Orme Dam Victory Days in Fort McDowell, Arizona this past weekend. In 1981, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation successfully prevented the construction of the Orme Dam - an effort that protected their land, preserved their home, and safeguarded generations to come. This annual celebration continues to honor the community’s historic victory and the strength of their cultural heritage.

Honored to join the Building with Resilience panel where we examined how building materials shape community resilience. Concrete is built to endure: it doesn’t burn, rust, or rot. That’s the real magic of materials. How we build truly influences how we live. Panelists: Laurie Fisher Karin Perissinotto Michael Smith Becky Wood Robert Dugan, Moderator We had a great week at the CalCIMA Education Conference at ✨Disney’s Grand California 💫 Thank you to CalPortland for sponsoring this education session and supporting conversations that move our industry forward. #CalCIMA #Calcimarocks #Resilience #Sustainability #BuildingWithResilience #CommunityResilience #Concrete

After losing her home in the Palisades fires, Karen Martinez is choosing a safer and smarter path forward by rebuilding with ICCF block to create a long-lasting, non-combustible home. Even more inspiring, she’s helping her neighbors learn how resilient materials can protect what matters most as they rebuild too. Listen to Karen’s interview with LAist to hear her story and why she believes rebuilding with resilience is the only way forward: https://bit.ly/4nY5rNU #BuildingWithResilience #NoncombustibleConstruction #ICCF
