As of last Friday, I wrapped up my summer internship at CJ ENM America, and I could not be more grateful to the Music Business team, HR team, and my fellow interns for making the whole experience. Having once been on the other side of the barricade and phone screen, enjoying CJ ENM’s events, dramas, and content, and even working at KCON LA 2024 as staff, it was truly special to see it all come full circle through this opportunity. This internship not only gave me valuable insight but also helped me learn more about myself and the type of work and people I hope to pursue in the future. To my amazing cohort of interns (Angelien Nguyen, Angelina Moonswami, Alexa Hernandez, Kaika Kusuma, Nayoung Lee), who we like to call the KCON Avengers, thank you for the collaboration, support, and memories. A deeply proud milestone for CJ. Having spent meaningful years at CJ, this moment held special significance. On August 1, 2025, the City of Los Angeles officially proclaimed “KCON Day”, recognizing the world’s largest K-POP fan and artist festival for its cultural, social, and economic contributions since its inception in 2012. The resolution was co-sponsored by Councilmembers John Lee, Katy Yaroslavsky, Curren Price, and Heather Hutt, honoring KCON’s lasting impact on LA’s cultural landscape, tourism, and creative economy. Knowing just how much leadership, vision, and—yes—countless hours of dedication from our remarkable colleagues at CJ ENM and CJ ENM America have gone into shaping KCON into what it is today made this moment especially meaningful. The presence of the Consul General of Korea made it even more special. From longtime K-Pop fan and KCON attendee to K-Pop expert and on-air KCON spokesperson! 🌟 As a kid, I always dreamed of sharing Korean culture with the world, but I could never have imagined that one day, I’d be doing it as an expert on television. Ahead of KCON LA 2025 this weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to speak with KCAL News about what fans can expect at the event, what’s new this year, and why this celebration is so special for the hundreds of thousands of K-Pop fans who flock to Downtown LA for three unforgettable days of Korean music and culture. I used to attend all the KCONs in New York back in high school, so it feels surreal to now be on the other side — explaining to others why KCON is the place to be for access to top Korean talent, one-of-a-kind fan engagement opportunities, and a massive community that makes the whole experience so meaningful. I’m constantly pinching myself!!
