About us
We remove greenhouse gas emissions from wastewater. CREW’s technology enhances the natural power of minerals to help treat wastewater and store carbon dioxide permanently. CREW works with municipal and industrial wastewater partners to leverage weathering reactions in engineered and existing infrastructure, enabling positive climate impact that is measurable and permanent while helping optimize biological treatment. Our carbon removal customers include the Frontier Climate Fund (Stripe, Shopify, Autodesk, McKinsey, among others) and work with wastewater partners across the globe.

Proud to have the world’s leading experts in alkalinity-based carbon removal at CREW guiding our technical strategy: See this cutting-edge research in Springer Nature led by our senior technical team and advisors — Peter Raymond, Noah Planavsky, and Chris Reinhard — and from Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture highlighting how calcium carbonate can be used to capture CO₂ across multiple applications, not just from wastewater systems but also agriculture. 🌱
📢 🪨 🚜 🌊 📈 Important comment in Springer Nature Water from YCNCC Co-Director Peter Raymond, Scientific Leadership Team member Noah Planavsky, and Georgia Institute of Technology Professor Chris Reinhard on whether, when, and how agricultural lime (crushed CaCO3) can potentially drive low-cost and scalable CDR that delivers significant agronomic benefit to farmers. *Update*! Announcing our carbon removal developers! In March and April 2025, we published the growing list of supporting partners and cities involved in the City CDR Initiative. Now, we want to announce the trailblazing project, product and technology developers joining us to map the opportunity of carbon removal deployment within and by cities. 🤝 We are super excited to be working with the following developers: Pyreg; Novocarbo; ecoLocked; Applied Carbon; Yggdrasil Trees; Carbon Reform; Hempitecture; Carbon Neutral Initiative; Vesta, PBC; Carbon Upcycling Technologies; CREW Carbon; Stockholm Exergi. We will learn from their insights into the opportunities and challenges that come with a wide range of urban and peri-urban CDR pathways. The developers will be part of our engagement and communication with cities, providing on-the-ground experience with urban systems, infrastructure needs, and barriers to deployment, and offering suggestions on how to overcome these barriers. 💪 The developers will strengthen our efforts to unlock impacts across the carbon removal market and stakeholder ecosystem as it relates to cities: ➡️ Fresh demand signals for carbon removal ➡️ Novel supply options for carbon removal ➡️ Empowered leadership by city governments ➡️ New narratives suitable for citizen engagement 💡Specifically, these insights will support a range of assets we will be publishing in the lead up to our final report at the end of September: ➡️ City case studies on a range of CDR solutions ➡️ Fact sheets on urban CDR pathway ➡️ Fact sheets on cross-policy synergies ➡️ Roadmaps for City CDR strategy development ➡️ Template for a city net zero action plan with CDR 📢 How you can support this effort? ➡️ Reach out if you know other cities—every city counts. ➡️ Like and share the news to help expand our reach. ➡️ Follow our LinkedIn page for updates.
