We are looking forward to being at the Vital Signs Conference in Syracuse! If you're in the area later this week, stop by and check out our booth at the trade show. We're hoping some paramedics will see the great sign-on deal we're offering through the end of the year and decide to join our team. https://lnkd.in/e-C7YPrZ

Paramedic Dustin Moore, left, and EMT Gladys Plaza-Guzman, right, pose with Fire Chief John Lucariello at a ceremony on Oct. 15 at Fishkill Town Hall honoring them for their efforts that helped save Lucariello's life. Chief Lucariello went into cardiac arrest after arriving at the scene of a fire on Aug. 11, when Empress's dedicated town unit found him in a battle for his life. Paramedic Moore began life-saving ALS interventions, and the crew transported to St. Luke's Montefiore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after the ER worked on him aggressively for nearly an hour. It was noted a few minutes later that Lucariello began breathing on his own and had a pulse. Lifesaving care was resumed in the ER, and after successful cardiac care at St Luke's and Westchester Medical Center, he returned home.

Thank you to Putnam County News & Recorder for helping spread the word that Putnam County has formed a contract with Empress to provide Community Paramedicine, a program that will help homebound and elderly people receive needed care in their homes, preventing them from resorting to calling 911 and freeing up ambulances to respond to true emergencies: https://lnkd.in/ena2cQ4H

Behind the adrenaline and fast-paced decisions of EMS work lies a quieter force that determines whether we deliver excellence or merely adequacy. It's our culture that makes the difference, Captain Robert Szeli writes in this article: https://lnkd.in/eayQ8RB5

Congratulations to our North Academy Instructor, Sandra (Sandy) Wilson, on her promotion to Lieutenant! She started her EMS career as an EMT in 1992 and earned her CIC (Certified Instructor Coordinator) Credentials in 2018 and has been the lead instructor for the Empress North Academy for the past two years.
