The FOOTHILLS AREA YMCA is comprised of the Cottingham Campus YMCA, Walhalla City Pool, 9 after-school sites, and two summer camps. Deeply rooted in the community for over 125 years, the FOOTHILLS AREA YMCA has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change.   • Welcome Our New Part-Time Associates! We’re excited to welcome two team members stepping into new roles at the Foothills Area YMCA! Please join us in congratulating Haley Phillips and Kirk Rogers as they begin their next chapters with us. Haley Phillips, HR Administrative Coordinator Haley joins the YMCA with extensive experience in recruitment, training, and organizational support. In her new role, she will assist with key HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, compliance, and employee support. Haley’s strong background in people-focused operations and commitment to creating positive workplace experiences make her a wonderful addition to our team. Kirk Rogers, Associate Aquatics Director Congratulations to Kirk Rogers on her well-deserved promotion to Associate Aquatics Director! Kirk has been an integral part of our Aquatics team as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor, consistently demonstrating leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication to water safety and youth development. In her new role, she will support aquatic programming, staff coordination, and safety standards across the department. Please join us in giving both Haley and Kirk a warm YMCA welcome as they take on these exciting new roles!

  • The Foothills Area YMCA is excited to announce the appointment of our new team members! LEADERSHIP: Josh Smith, Aquatics Director Josh comes to us from the Baxter Close YMCA, where he led a swim program serving over 250 participants and managed a team of 40+ aquatic staff. His background in lifeguard training and program development—combined with his strong leadership and customer service skills—makes him a valuable addition to our aquatics team. Meadow Rosenthal-Millson, Aquatics Director Meadow joins us from the Dean and Barbara White Southlake YMCA, bringing extensive experience in aquatics leadership, instruction, and safety. She is a certified swim instructor and lifeguard, with a background in teaching both group and private swim lessons, and is passionate about creating positive, enriching aquatic experiences for all. SUPPORT STAFF: Chase Foster, Aquatics Coordinator Chase began his Y journey in 2023 as a lifeguard and stepped into the Aquatics Coordinator role earlier this summer. A certified lifeguard, he is dedicated to water safety and creating a positive, supportive environment for both staff and participants in our aquatics programs. Savannah Brooks, Aquatics Coordinator Savannah joined the Y in April 2025 as a Barre instructor in our group fitness program and recently transitioned into the role of Aquatics Coordinator. She is a certified lifeguard with a passion for promoting wellness and creating a welcoming, safe environment in and around the water. A.J. Govain, Facilities Maintenance Technician A.J. brings over 38 years of leadership in facilities and operations management, including decades of experience supporting large-scale industrial environments. His extensive background in mechanical systems, safety compliance, and project execution—along with a strong focus on continuous improvement—makes him a valuable asset as we grow and enhance our facilities and operations. Please join us in congratulating Josh, Meadow, Chase, Savannah, and A.J. on their new roles. We are confident that they will thrive and contribute significantly to our organization’s success.

  • The Foothills Area YMCA is pleased to welcome Ryan Nelson as our new Director of Human Resources. With over two decades of progressive experience in human resources and talent acquisition, Ryan brings a wealth of expertise in organizational development, workforce planning, and employee engagement. Prior to joining the Y, Ryan served in several leadership roles at Aera Energy, where he led initiatives in performance management, employee relations, and change management. His track record includes designing HR processes that streamline operations, reduce time-to-hire, and foster high-performing teams. Ryan is known for his collaborative leadership style and his commitment to building inclusive, supportive work environments. In his new role, Ryan will oversee all aspects of HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, compliance, and employee support. He will serve as a key member of the administrative team, working closely with staff and leadership to uphold the Y’s mission and cultivate a workplace where people thrive.
