The courtrooms were filled with smiles and happy tears as the joy and relief of long-awaited permanency were realized last week. Thank you to our Four Oaks team members and our incredible network of partners across the state for helping to organize these wonderful events. It takes a village to reach this day. November is National Adoption Month! Drew and Heather fostered 16 kids in five years, providing care to kids of all ages. They couple was skilled when it came to addressing educational challenges, behavioral challenges, and trauma, according to Four Oaks team members who have worked with them. Heather, a very patient foster parent full of immense knowledge, even served as a mentor for other families around Iowa. Drew and Heather have withdrew from fostering after adopting 3 children. Thank you Drew and Heather for being shining examples of great foster parents! Want to learn more about foster care and/or adoption? Head to: iowafosterandadoption.org

November is National Adoption Month A single foster mom not afraid to take on sibling groups, Kaitlyn is an excellent foster and adoption resource! She is also a school counselor, so she has an understanding of trauma, biological family connections, and making sure the needs of children are met. She has fostered 10 kids since getting licensed in 2021 and recently adopted siblings! Thank you, Kaitlyn, for everything you do. Curious about foster care and/or adoption? Thank you to the Johnson County Board of Supervisors for honoring the life and legacy of Linda Herring with this year's Adoption Month Proclamation. Linda's legacy has left such a mark on many foster parents around the state. Throughout her life, Linda welcomed over 600 foster children into her home. Anthony Herring, Linda's son, spoke at the event : "When I look at the mission of Four Oaks to ensure that every child becomes a successful adult, when I thought about what that means... The most basic input that an individual needs is somebody to love them. If you don't have that, nothing else matters. When I look at my mom's life... she did that for so many people. That's how big her heart was." Today, there are still many children in Iowa who need a loving home. Learn more: iowafosterandadoption.org
