The holidays can bring excitement, memories, disrupted routines, and the expectation to keep everything cheerful. It can be a lot for anyone. Here’s a simple toolkit that can help you move through the season with a little more steadiness: ❇️ The Emotional Thermometer: Check in with yourself regularly to understand your needs. ❇️ The Reset Button: Take a break from the festivities when feeling overwhelmed. A few deep breaths can help. ❇️ The Boundary Script: Prepare short phrases for stressful conversations, like “Let’s change the subject.” ❇️ The Connection Anchor: Reach out to someone in your support network with a quick text or call. ❇️ The Safer Coping Plan: Plan alternative coping strategies, like walking, listening to music, or seeking professional support. If you feel overwhelmed by emotions during the holidays, it's completely normal. It’s okay to respectfully prioritize your peace. #EmotionalHealth #HolidayStress #Psychiatry #MentalHealthMatters #WellbeingTools #StressManagement #HealthyBoundaries #FrontierPsychiatry

What if getting help for alcohol use became as simple as walking into a pharmacy? A team of Harvard addiction specialists just proposed making naltrexone, a well-studied medication for alcohol use disorder, available over-the-counter. No referral. No weeks-long wait. No stigma-filled hurdles. Why people are paying attention: ✅ Millions struggle with alcohol use, but very few get treatment. ✅ Naltrexone has a strong safety profile and decades of research. ✅ Other meds (like nicotine replacement and naloxone) saw huge increases in access once they went OTC. Many people want help but can’t get appointments or feel too ashamed to ask for them. Over-the-counter naltrexone could empower millions to seek support for alcohol use, removing many barriers to treatment. If this change could help you or someone you love, you’re not alone. Share your thoughts below, or tag someone who should see this. Let’s keep the conversation going. 💬 #BehavioralHealth #PublicHealthInnovation #AddictionMedicine #HealthEquity #MentalHealthSupport #HealthcareAccess #PopulationHealth #EvidenceBasedCare #FrontierPsychiatry

Finding the right therapist can make all the difference. Here are a few signs you may have found a good fit: you feel safe opening up, you feel understood, there’s real trust, and you’re comfortable giving feedback about the process. And if it doesn’t feel like the right fit? That’s completely okay. Even an excellent therapist might not be the right match for you. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to find the connection that feels right. Your mental health is worth the effort. What do you look for in a therapist? Why is it so hard to leave someone who repeatedly hurts you? It could be due to trauma bonding, a powerful emotional attachment formed through cycles of abuse, devaluation, and brief moments of affection. These highs and lows can make unhealthy relationships feel impossible to walk away from. Trauma bonding isn’t “connecting over shared struggles.” It’s a survival response— the brain’s way of clinging to moments of calm between periods of emotional pain in a relationship. Understanding this pattern is a vital step toward healing and reclaiming your sense of self. Read our latest blog to learn what trauma bonding really is, how it forms, and how to find the right support for healing. 🔗 frontier.care/blog #TraumaBonding #TraumaRecovery #MentalHealthAwareness #HealingJourney #FrontierPsychiatry #EmotionalHealth #HealthyRelationships

A new study from Brown University found that while AI chatbots weren’t built for therapy, people are increasingly turning to them for mental health advice, and the results can be risky. Researchers have found that many chatbots give misleading guidance, show false empathy, or respond inappropriately during crises. For those in rural areas or places with limited access to care, turning to chatbots may feel like an easy solution. But true healing requires human understanding, accountability, and evidence-based care. We're here to help. At Frontier Psychiatry, our team of licensed professionals provides compassionate, accessible mental health support to residents of Montana, Idaho, and Alaska. 📅 To learn more or schedule an appointment, visit us at frontier.care.
