Transforming Communities Through Integrated Design & Construction Excellence
About us
Established in St. Louis in 1980, KAI Enterprises has grown into one of the leading and most respected design and build firms. We provide delivery-oriented building solutions nationwide with a diverse portfolio of experience, 150+ in-house multi-discipline professionals, and expertise in both design and construction delivery. More importantly, we are designers and builders out to make a difference in our communities. Through our integrated design and build strategy, we offer both award-winning design services (architecture, interior design and engineering) and build services (general contracting and program, project and construction management) all under one roof. Our goal is to incorporate these two strengths to deliver the best value, solution and people to achieve your vision, budget and schedule. Currently serving as the Executive Architect for the National Juneteenth Museum, KAI seeks out culturally conscious, and politically sensitive projects that will make lasting differences in the lives they touch. KAI was built upon a foundation of teamwork and collaboration and has since grown into one of the largest minority-owned firms in the AEC industry. For more than 40 years, we have been instrumental in transforming communities through its expertise in residential, commercial, K-12, higher education, healthcare, science and technology, aviation, mobility, sports and entertainment, government, water and community-focused projects. https://linktr.ee/kaienterprises

KAI proudly participated in the Robinson School of Business & Management’s 1st Annual Real Estate Career Fair! As part of Entrepreneurship Month, Derwin Broughton, AIA, NOMA, NCARB, WELL AP, LaPorshe’ Washington, Assoc. AIA, NOMA , and Blaire A. Bradford joined 20+ companies to showcase the business side of real estate, from development and investment to management and design. Our team shared valuable insights into how architecture services, engineering solutions, and program & construction management play a critical role in shaping communities and driving economic growth. We’re honored to inspire Dallas Independent School District's future leaders to see real estate not just as property, but as a dynamic business ecosystem where innovation and collaboration build lasting impact. #TransformingCommunities #EntrepreneurshipMonth #BusinessLeadership #Architecture #Engineering #ConstructionManagement #RealEstateCareers #FutureLeaders #DISD

We are very proud to be involved in such impactful work, along with a fantastic team, for DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit)! #TransformingCommunities
The installation of 60 new NextGen bus shelters has begun. Over the next few months, these shelters will be installed at locations throughout the DART service area. What’s new? ▪️ Enhanced protection from the elements to keep riders comfortable ▪️ Real-time arrival displays for up-to-the-minute bus tracking ▪️ Reliable solar-powered lighting for added safety and visibility Combined, these elements are aimed at enhancing the customer experience with modern conveniences. We’ve also upgraded the surroundings with sleek silver metal strap benches and redesigned trash cans featuring lockable lids and front-door access—making maintenance easier and more ergonomic. Accessibility First: In a continued effort to improve rider comfort and accessibility, DART’s Mobility Capital Projects group installed 172 new concrete amenity pads at bus stops throughout the service area this past year. These upgrades are part of a broader focus on infrastructure enhancement initiatives aimed at modernizing our bus stop amenities and ensuring ADA compliance. The concrete pads serve as level surfaces for boarding and deboarding of buses out both the front and rear doors. They also allow for the placement of benches, shelters, trash receptacles, and other passenger amenities. By replacing uneven or unpaved ground with durable concrete, the agency is creating safer and more accessible waiting areas for all riders, including those using wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers. Looking Ahead: The NextGen Shelter Program is just getting started! As part of the Transform initiative, every existing shelter and amenity will be replaced—and hundreds more added—between now and 2030. #DARTtransform

What a fun and productive few days we had last week in Fort Worth at the annual Texas Municipal League Conference! It's always great to connect in person with our existing municipal partners, city leaders and to make new connections with other community advocates. Our mission to be faithful stewards drives us to continually learn more about the needs and priorities of the places where we live and work through networking events like this. The information we learn from TML shapes our process and ensures we are providing services above and beyond our clients' expectations. See you again in 2026! 🌟 #KAI #TransformingCommunites #TML2025 #TexasMunicipalLeague #CommunityImpact #FortWorth #AEC #MunicipalLeadership

Last week, KAI 360 CS's Senior Vice President Herschel Acosta, CCM and KAI Design's Project Manager Brandon Herron, AIA were delighted to take part in the Principal for a Day event, hosted by Dallas Independent School District in conjunction with the Dallas Regional Chamber. 🍎📝📓 During this event, they were able to spend quality time with the principal, faculty, and students. As frequent collaborators with Dallas ISD, it's crucial for our team to get up close and personal with the inner workings of these facilities in order to educate our teams on the best ways to improve learning environments, for the betterment of the students and, ultimately, our communities. #TransformingCommunities #NorthTexas #AEC #Design #Engineering #Construction #GiveBack #Dallas #PublicEducation

It was an exciting day at the Maudrie Walton Elementary School Groundbreaking! We're proud to be part of this impactful project and grateful for the incredible collaboration with Fort Worth ISD, PROCEDEO, and SEDALCO Construction Services. Originally built in 1954 and later renamed to honor Maudrie Walton, the school’s first principal and Fort Worth ISD’s first Black school board member. This campus has long been a cornerstone of strength, learning, and legacy in the Stop Six community. Our design for the addition and renovation carefully balances preservation and progress. We’re honoring the historic 1954 structure while transforming it into a vibrant, equitable learning environment that supports today’s students, including a large population of neurodivergent learners, with spaces for exploration, calm, and connection. Perhaps most importantly, this project represents a renewed relationship between the district and the community, one rooted in listening, collaboration, and trust. Together, we’re shaping a school that not only teaches but heals; one that honors its past while creating new possibilities for the future. Congratulations to Fort Worth ISD, the Carver Heights community, and all the partners who helped make this vision possible! A special thanks to Superintendent Karen Molinar, Madeleine Sara AIA, NCARB, and Kellie Spencer for their dedication and partnership! #TransformingCommunities #HealingThroughDesign #FortWorthISD #StopSix #CarverHeights #KAIDesign #KAIEngineering #EducationalDesign #CommunityArchitecture #Groundbreaking #ArchitectureThatHeals #EquityInEducation
