In our latest Mary’s Place Moments episode, Katie shares what has touched her heart most during her years of volunteering. Want to hear the whole story? Every family deserves a table to gather around for holiday meals, a comfy couch to watch the Thanksgiving game, and a cozy bed to curl up in after a day full of joy and memories. Our Make-a-Home program helps make that possible. When families move from shelter into permanent housing, amazing volunteers make sure they have the furniture and essentials they need to feel settled, stay stable, and truly thrive. In a recent Mary’s Place Moments episode, our Make-a-Home Coordinator, Olga Chinka, talked about why something as simple as a couch or bed can make such a big difference for a family’s long-term stability. You can catch the full conversation with Olga and Make-a-Home volunteer Katie Bernston on our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/g9weT6R7 During our #NoChildSleepsOutside campaign your gift of $1,000 provides furnishings and comfort of home for six families moving from homelessness into permanent housing! Homelessness is devastating at any age—but for children, the impacts can shape the trajectory of their lives. Nearly 50% of children under age four who are not stably housed show developmental delays, and children and teens experiencing homelessness face an 87% likelihood of dropping out, chronic absenteeism, or disproportionate school discipline. These disruptions don’t just affect childhood—they are one of the strongest predictors that a child will experience homelessness again as an adult. During #NationalHomelessYouthAwarenessMonth learn about the impacts of homelessness on children and take action to ensure no child sleeps outside by making a gift to our #NoChildSleepsOutside campaign: https://lnkd.in/giUC2Pp7 https://lnkd.in/g23Ai33c

How will new city and county leadership, federal policy changes, and looming budget cuts impact the growing crisis of homelessness in our community? Mary’s Place CEO Dominique Alex joined our partners at Compass Housing Alliance and the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) on a recent episode of Seattle Channel's City Inside/Out for an honest, in-depth conversation about where things stand, the challenges ahead, and how we’re working together to bring our unsheltered neighbors inside to safety and long-term stability. ➡️ Tune in to hear what’s changing, what’s at stake, and how collaboration is more important than ever: https://lnkd.in/gE-Zfuxr #HungerandHomelessnessAwarenessWeek #SeattleHomelessness #SeattleHomelessnessCrisis

❄️ The cold doesn’t wait. neither can we. Families with children are sleeping outside TONIGHT. As winter approaches, the need is growing, and shelters across King County are full. 📞 Today alone, 50–60 families will call the King County intake line asking for help. 🛏️ And we can only provide a safe bed to one or two families each week. We're calling on our community to help us respond to this crisis. These families are our neighbors, our co-workers, our children’s classmates. ✨ Start a peer-to-peer fundraiser TODAY and rally your friends, coworkers, or family to join you in making sure every child and parent has a warm, safe place to sleep. Thank you to our top fundraisers so far! 🤩 https://lnkd.in/gjEmTgvz

Thank you to our friends at Comcast who are helping support families in our community by collecting donations of warm coats, blankets, and more for Mary's Place at select Xfinity stores! Every day, our family intake line receives 50-60 calls from families in need of shelter, and because shelters are at capacity, we're only able to bring one or two inside each week. For those still sleeping outside in the cold, our mobile outreach team is meeting them in their cars and tents with housing resources and cold-weather essentials like coats and blankets. Thank you to KING 5 Media Group and Comcast for shedding light on the often-invisible crisis of #FamilyHomelessness and for supporting our neighbors during #HungerAndHomelessnessAwarenessWeek. https://lnkd.in/giZKk_cx
