Norfolk Public Schools serves the City of Norfolk, the cultural and financial hub of southeastern Virginia. Home to the world’s largest Navy base, Norfolk covers approximately 66 square miles with nearly a quarter-million citizens. The Hampton Roads metro area is home to approximately 1.5 million people. Norfolk Public Schools includes 33 elementary, seven middle, and five high schools in addition to a variety of auxiliary facilities (early childhood centers, a career and technical center, a pre-IB 3-8 school, and other support facilities) and serves more than 33,000 students. Supporting Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters Families. Hospital School Teachers Donate to Ronald McDonald House. Educators from the Hospital School Program at CHKD and Children’s Pavilion recently led a highly impactful donation drive supporting the Ronald McDonald House in Norfolk. This essential organization provides housing and support services for families whose children are receiving medical care, helping ease the emotional and financial stress of being away from home. Teachers collected new socks and laundry detergent, practical necessities that make a meaningful difference for families navigating long days in a hospital setting. Their efforts demonstrate the deep commitment of the Hospital School Program to supporting both students and the broader family system that surrounds them.
