Last week, Executive Deputy Chief Information Officer Jenson Jacob and other ITS team members participated in the Public Sector #AI Summit, hosted by the Social Innovation + Change Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School. The discussions centered on the challenges and benefits of using AI in state and local governments, and the team shared how ITS is implementing these tools for our workforce responsibly and efficiently.

ITS spotlights Anthony Catalano, an MITS 1 with the Digital Experience team. Anthony has been with NYS for almost 30 years, and in that time, he has learned to approach challenges with patience and careful consideration. He is passionate about fostering his team, bringing out the best results from his colleagues. When not at a keyboard, Anthony likes to spend time in nature, including gardening and birdwatching.

Cybercriminals can target the elderly, who are often less comfortable using technology. In the latest issue of the ITS Cybersecurity Tips Newsletter, learn how to keep seniors informed about current scams and keep them safe when online, including sharing helpful resources. 

The ITS Geospatial Services team works to provide accurate data and maps to NYS agencies, giving them the tools they need to provide New Yorkers with crucial services. ITS spotlights Kriste McNall, an ITS 4 with the Parks/APA Dedicated Team. Kriste is always willing to go above and beyond. She recently built and launched a SharePoint site, related to the PGA Ryder Cup, on a very tight timeline and with limited resources, finishing ahead of the deadline. When not helping her team, Kriste loves travel, and spend quality family time with her two sons.

ITS spotlights Samuel Wilkinson, an ITS 2 with the Chief Technology Office and Data Center Services. Samuel is relatively new to ITS, and he has spent his first year on the job learning more about different operating systems. He believes that information sharing, as well as empathy, is crucial to a successful and effective team. He is never afraid to ask questions to get the job done. When not at a keyboard, Samuel can likely be found at a professional basketball game, and he is almost halfway to his goal of visiting every arena.
