About us
Ultra-efficient. Comfortable. Affordable. Now. Phius is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to decarbonizing the built environment by making high-performance passive building the mainstream market standard. We train and certify professionals, maintain and update the Phius climate-specific passive building standard, certify and quality assure passive buildings, certify high-performance building products and conduct research to advance high-performance building. Passive building principles include using super-insulation, super-tight building envelope design and construction, extremely efficient windows, energy recovery ventilation, and passive solar strategies. Buildings designed and constructed using these principles can consume as little as 40 percent of the energy conventional buildings use for heating and cooling. The Phius mission is to support healthy living for all and the well-being of the planet by advancing our locally-tailored, globally applicable passive building standard.
