Today, QuantumScape hosted our second annual Solid-State Battery Symposium in Kyoto, bringing together industry leaders, automotive OEMs, and government officials. This year’s event highlighted how strategic partnerships in Japan are accelerating next-generation battery innovation, and included updates on QS’s latest production process breakthroughs. “It was an emotional moment. There were many of us there to see that Ducati [motorcycle] powered by our QSE 5 cells...When we started out, it wasn’t clear if a material existed – if that material could be made thin and continue to function, [if it] could be made larger [or] multi-layered, [if it] could be made continuously with no applied pressure, with no excess lithium…All of these things were generally thought to be at least difficult, if not outright impossible, and it took going through all of those things to get here. There’s still a lot of important work to do. We are also installing higher-volume production equipment for our cell production pilot line, the Eagle Line. • We signed a new strategic partnership with Corning Incorporated, expanded our partnership with Murata, and we’re actively engaged with a new Top-10 global automotive OEM. • We are beginning to show returns from our capital-light development and licensing business model, reporting over $12M in customer billings in Q3.

At IAA Mobility today, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Winfried Kretschmann, and Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder joined Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume to celebrate the world’s first live demonstration of QS solid-state batteries powering an EV – a Ducati Motor Holding V21L motorcycle powered by QuantumScape’s QSE-5 battery cells.
