Veterans at RTX continue to lead with purpose, demonstrating that their commitment to service carries on long after the uniform comes off. RTX employees like Dan, a United States Air Force veteran and Sr. Systems Integration Engineer at Collins Aerospace, exemplify this dedication. Beyond his military service, Dan mentors students and interns through our development programs and volunteers with his colleague and close friend Evan to lead the Rockford Operation Homefront toy drive. Together, they are also coordinating activities throughout the month to honor the service, sacrifice, and commitment of their coworkers, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice and can’t be with us. “When I left active duty in 2023, I didn’t know what to expect. Shortly after joining Collins, I met Evan, a fellow Vet my age, and we quickly became friends. Over the past two years, we’ve supported veterans across the organization and in the Rockford community through Veterans Day luncheons, the Annual Veterans Dinner, and enhancements to our Collins Veteran Display. I’m grateful for Evan’s friendship and support, which made my transition into the workforce much easier,” Dan shared. This month, we honor Veterans and Military Families Service Month by lifting up the communities who have sacrificed so much. Volunteering is one of the most meaningful ways to say “thank you” while living out our RTX values of respect, collaboration and accountability. One employee shared how volunteering for military families strengthened their connection to the mission and the community. Pete explained, "The Raytheon Mission calls on us to deliver for all those who defend all of us. We live that out every day in our work at RTX, and supporting veterans in the community is a natural extension of that mission." During #NationalSTEMDay and every day, we celebrate the power of imagination and innovation. 🔬 At RTX, our commitment to lifelong learning shines through programs like Invention Convention Worldwide (ICW), where students tackle real-world problems and gain the confidence to pursue STEM careers. For Letia, a Value Stream Leader at Collins Aerospace, her STEM journey began as a young inventor. Today, she’s shaping technology at RTX and coaching her daughter’s Invention Convention team: “As a kid, Invention Convention taught me to approach challenges with curiosity and persistence. Now, coaching my daughter’s team, I see those same skills growing in a new generation of innovators.” Letia, pictured below at her own Invention Convention competitions over 20 years ago, and in a recent family photo of her daughter competing this year, continues to pay it forward by inspiring future problem-solvers. More power, no moving parts and a lighter weight? That’s the promise of a rotating detonation engine. This latest performance testing shows how RTX is uniquely positioned to solve complex challenges by bringing together experts in propulsion and defense. After a decade of designing and testing at the RTX Technology Research Center, Pratt & Whitney received a contract to work with the RTRC to develop a rotating detonation engine that Raytheon could fly in a weapons system. See how we’re applying advanced manufacturing techniques to deliver the next generation of effectors: https://rtxcorp.co/4oyHhea
