About us

Formerly SKL Architects — Working side by side with mission-driven organizations to create buildings and spaces that unite the physical beauty of architectural design with the enduring resilience of equity, social justice, and environmental responsibility. The firm is led by two principals: Gladys Ly-Au Young, AIA, creates community spaces, designing places people love and places that are earth-friendly. Projects with an equitable and sustainability overlay are what she is most passionate about, and have included HomeSight's Othello Square Affordable Housing Building, Central Kitsap SD's Olympic High School, and Westside School in West Seattle. John Kennedy, AIA, works on a wide variety of community-based projects that typically require out of the box thinking, and leads our Adaptive Re-Use projects, which translates old buildings to modern uses, for example, Chophouse Row on Seattle's Capitol Hill.
