Vidha Dixit is a trailblazer for the circular economy. As a sustainability and ESG leader at EDP Renewables North America, Vidha has worked hard to institute sustainable end-of-life strategies across projects and make circularity a pillar of company culture. Building a successful circularity program at one of the largest clean energy developers in the U.S. is no easy feat. Along the way she's learned a lot about: 💡 The business case for solar panel recycling––from delighting energy buyers to engaging local stakeholders. 💡 Setting and meeting SDG goals, including effectively managing waste across the project lifecycle. 💡 How to build internal awareness of the challenge, gain buy-in for the solution, and then evolve departments to implement change. 💡 It takes a village! The importance of external partners like SOLARCYCLE that understand the industry's unique challenges and company's specific needs. Tune in to hear insights from Vidha as she pushes the envelope for circularity and clean energy 👉 https://lnkd.in/g5_2uFjg Thank you Vidha Dixit and EDP Renewables North America for your leadership and partnership as we work to close the loop for clean energy! 👏 #RecyclingDay #CircularEconomy #SolarRecycling #CleanEnergy

A Mission for a Sustainable Tomorrow. Since our inception, sustainability has been embedded in our corporate purpose and values. We are committed to creating a cleaner, more sustainable future through initiatives that extend beyond manufacturing American-made, premium-quality solar cells and panels. From advanced automation and continuous improvement practices within our facilities to partnering with local communities and global humanitarian and relief organizations, we focus on reducing waste, optimizing energy use, and supporting a circular solar supply chain. Through collaboration with industry-accredited recycler, SOLARCYCLE, we ensure that decommissioned panels are responsibly processed, giving materials a second life and closing the loop in solar manufacturing. Last week we pulled the drones out to capture a typical day at our Cedartown recycling facility where we're recycling thousands of solar panels every week...and scaling quickly to do even more! A day-in-the-life at SOLARCYCLE's circular solar campus in Georgia means: 🚚 🚚 Trucks bringing in damaged, broken, and retired solar panels from the field — carefully packed and palletized thanks to our reverse logistics team! ♻️ ♻️ Forklifts unloading panels off truck beds and into our 255,000 sq ft recycling center to be processed. 🔩 🔩 Valuable recovered materials (like aluminum frames pictured here) being shipped out to material customers to be turned into new products. 💪 💪 SOLARCYCLERS hard at work keeping critical materials out of landfills and in our supply chain! Advanced clean energy recycling is the solution to your solar e-waste. Contact us for a quote and help build a more circular solar economy.

Creating a circular economy requires partners who are committed to navigating uncharted territory with creativity, integrity, and collaboration. We're fortunate to have exactly that. Last week Jesse Simons spoke with SOLARCYCLE partners Vidha Dixit, Ayo Olabimtan, CFA, Rajeev O. and Markus Walther from EDP Renewables North America, Microsoft, Prologis and Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) onstage at #Trellis25 / #VERGE25 to discuss how we're working together to mainstream solar panel recycling now, before clean energy waste reaches crisis levels. Miss the panel? We're bringing those insights to you here over a series of videos. Tune in to learn: ✅ Why Microsoft views circularity–-and keeping valuable materials in our domestic supply chains--as both the best environmental and business decision for hyperscalers and clean energy buyers. ✅ Key motivators for developers like EDP Renewables North America to recycle rather than landfill end of life solar panels: from compliance and regulation to customer requirements and community relations. ✅ How leading real estate & logistics company Prologis is creating business opportunity at the intersection of data centers, clean power, and the circular economy. 👇 Video link in the comments below 👇

An investigation by the Basel Action Network alleges that millions of tons of discarded electronics from the U.S. are being illegally shipped overseas. Unfortunately, a few of the companies examined in the study also claim to recycle solar panels. SOLARCYCLE CTO and Co-Founder Pablo Dias ––who has spent his career studying how the world manages e-waste –– shares his perspective on the roadblocks facing e-waste, and how the solar industry can learn from these issues to build a safe and sustainable practice for managing retired clean energy technologies. Read his summary and tips on how to ensure your partners are following best practices here 👉 https://lnkd.in/g5KY9vmk

Sharing a few moments from a full day of clean energy circularity and sustainability at #TrellisImpact25 / #Verge25 yesterday! SOLARCYCLE's Jesse Simons joined partners Vidha Dixit, Ayo Olabimtan, CFA, Rajeev O., and Markus Walther to discuss how we're working together to drive down the cost of advanced solar recycling and scale circularity for clean energy. Solar waste is on the rise, expected to exceed 10M retired panels per year by 2030 in the US alone. At the same time, the need for critical materials has surged as we accelerate clean energy to meet growing power demand. We have the opportunity to fuel this moment with the valuable materials found in a retired solar panel. That's why the industry's leaders, like Prologis, EDP Renewables North America, and Microsoft, are investing in advanced solar panel recycling, today, before solar waste volumes hit crisis levels. A big thanks to our partners and everyone who joined the discussion — it’s inspiring to see how quickly circularity is becoming part of the mainstream clean energy conversation.

The solar industry is racing toward a critical inflection point. In just a few years, we expect to see 10M panels reach end-of-life annually. In a new opinion piece for pv magazine USA, SOLARCYCLE's Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer Jesse Simons lays out why the time to advance solar panel recycling is now -- before waste volumes surge -- and how technology innovation and scale can rapidly drive down recycling costs to make a circular solar economy both practical and profitable. Key takeaways: ⚡ End-of-life solar volumes are accelerating faster than most forecasts: the U.S. alone could see 10 million retired panels per year before 2030. ⚡ Industry models often underestimate the impact of extreme weather events and early asset repowering, both of which drive higher waste volumes. ⚡ We've been optimizing cost structures since 2022, investing in reverse logistics, high-recovery technology, and material off-take networks to bring costs down, before waste volumes surge. ⚡ The goal: achieve “landfill parity”, making recycling a solar panel no more expensive than landfilling, by the end of this decade. Analysis from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) suggests ~40% of materials needed for the energy transition are at risk of severe shortages. This includes copper, silver, silicon and aluminum––valuable materials found in a solar panel. (Article in comments below 🔗👇) As the clean energy transition accelerates, so does the need for circular solutions that keep retired solar panels, and the critical materials they contain, out of landfills and in our supply chains. This month at VERGE 25 SOLARCYCLE's Jesse Simons will join industry leaders Ayo Olabimtan, CFA of Microsoft, Vidha Dixit of EDP Renewables North America, Rajeev O. of Prologis, and Markus Walther of Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) to discuss: ✅ How corporate energy buyers are embedding circularity into procurement strategies, ✅ Cross-sector efforts to build solar projects with sustainable end-of-life solutions, ✅ New developments and opportunities for advanced solar recycling technology, and more.
