When’s the last time you pulled an all-nighter with some seriously awesome people?
That’s exactly what happened this week here in Cottonwood! A dedicated group of staff stayed up through the night to tackle the scheduled electrical shutdown and complete some major system upgrades. Their teamwork, preparation, communication, and camaraderie made a complex project look seamless, and a long night seem fun. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we successfully completed these critical infrastructure upgrades that will enhance our facility operations and further support patient safety moving forward.
A special shout-out to our incredible Facilities team, Jeremy Willis, Kyle Caldwell, Derrick Reiner, Rich Carignan, Rich Franz, KC Judd, and led by Steve Frei —your extensive planning, hard work, and dedication to detail were key to the success of this project. Lance Slaska, IT Manager, also played a big role in ensuring our servers, phones, printers, fax machines, and all of those “IT” things we need in order to work, worked!
Members of the “Up All Night” team were, officially and “unoficially”:
Steve Frei – Incident Commander (“Keeper of Keeping Everyone on Track/Task!”)
Stacey Goicoa – Safety Officer (“Birthday Girl”!)
Tracy Williams – Nursing Officer (“Head of Entertainment”!)
Kim Johnson – Information Officer (“Food/Coffee Provider, Picture-Taker, and Everyone’s Cheerleader)
Lance Slaska – Information Technology (“Proud Papa” - who left to see his new brand-new granddaughter in Oregon right after we finished!)
Cody Bright – Director of Pharmacy (“Fishing, Hunting, Building, Story-telling Enthusiast”)
Ben Zumhoff – Executive Director, IT Strategic Partnership (also “Fishing, Hunting, Buidling Story-telling Enthusiast” – he and Cody kept each other entertained!)
Colleen Bennett – Manager, Laboratory (“All around Good-Egg”!)
Yvonne Brock – Biomed/Clinical Engineering (“Most Locations Lived” Winner!)
Shauntell Funke – EMS Coordinator
Becky Slichter – EMS
Brett Miller – EMS
And thank you to the “real” SMH Night Crew that had to put up with all of us invading their space:
Linda Beckman, RN
Nick Greeley, RN
Joni Cox, CNA
Ilan Hammond, ER Tech.
Again, a huge thanks to everyone who helped make this happen - You truly rock!
(If I missed anyone, please accept my apologies and know that your efforts were appreciated…I’m just still tired!)
Here are some pictures of our nocturnal adventures and the beautiful sunrise we were treated to!
