ShadeLA is live! Let’s make the city cool 🧊 again—one shaded space at a time. We're so happy to be partnering with University of Southern California and UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation on this project! Stay shady. 😎
ShadeLA is here—and we’re geared up and ready to get in the game. 😎 If you’ve spent time in L.A., you know the reality: plenty of sun, not enough shade. With major sporting events coming between now and 2028—and as dangerous heatwaves become more common—we can't afford to sit on the sidelines. We're working with neighbors, businesses, schools, and more to create shade where it's missing. ShadeLA is a people-powered movement to make L.A. cooler—one shaded space at a time. From trees and storefront awnings to park pavilions, we’re focused on scalable shade solutions that work across neighborhoods. Our goal: cooler, safer outdoor spaces that invite Angelenos to gather, move, and thrive—today and in the years to come. Interested in adding shade to your property or supporting the broader effort?
