Marking 30 years since the 1995 launch of Capiox EBS for #ECMO, we are reflecting on how clinical practice in Japan and #technology have grown together to support life-saving care. In 1995, Capiox EBS was created around four simple ideas: quick, compact, simple, and safe. With a pre-connected circuit and auto-priming, teams could begin circulation in about five minutes, which made a difference when seconds matter. Over three decades, the ecosystem in Japan grew alongside the technology through training, research, and cross-society collaboration. During COVID-19, this “All-Japan” network helped deliver world-leading outcomes for severe cases. Looking ahead, the SP-300 controller brings multi-channel sensing for flow, bubbles, pressure, and oxygen saturation to support safer, more reliable care. In 2025 the priority is unchanged: reduce time to support, strengthen #safety, and support consistent practice nationwide to help more patients reach #recovery with safer, faster ECMO when time is critical.
