A source of support for frontline healthcare workers in their time of greatest emotional need

About us

The Emotional PPE Project is a volunteer-run nonprofit working to remove the barriers that keep healthcare workers from accessing mental health care. Since 2020, we've maintained a directory of therapists who offer free sessions to healthcare professionals, while also doing advocacy and research work. We've connected over 2,500 healthcare workers to date and have produced high-impact publications and talks. Our mission is clear: to reduce barriers healthcare workers face in seeking, accessing, or receiving emotional and mental health support. Our vision is a world where healthcare workers utilize mental and emotional health support without any hesitation or worry. We take a comprehensive approach through: - Direct Care Access: Our directory connects healthcare workers with volunteer therapists offering free sessions - Research & Advocacy: We actively research barriers and produce high-impact publications to raise awareness and drive change - Training & Education: Providing resources and talks for advocates working to improve healthcare worker wellbeing Stigma, career impact, time constraints, limited access, and more hinder healthcare workers from seeking mental healthcare. We're breaking down these barriers by offering no-cost, confidential therapy connections and working to create systemic change. If you are a therapist who might want to volunteer, a healthcare worker seeking mental health support, or if you'd like to donate, visit emotionalppe.org.
