About us
At UCHealth, we do things differently. We strive to promote individual and community health and leave no question unanswered along the way. We’re driven to improve and optimize health care. Our network of nationally-recognized hospitals, clinic locations and health care providers extends throughout Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska. We deliver excellent care close to home, no matter where you might live. Our success is defined by more than our patient volumes or treatment outcomes. It’s about building a team of exceptional people, from our clinical staff to our expert physicians, who consistently do what is right for the individuals we are honored to serve. UCHealth, a 501(c) (3) health system, was formed in 2012 to increase access to innovative and advanced patient care, realize supply chain and IT efficiencies, and to better serve patients throughout the Rocky Mountain region by combining academic-based and community-focused medicine. Together, the clinics and hospitals within UCHealth can offer the most advanced treatments to improve the lives of patients and their families in Colorado and beyond.

After years of pushing through shoulder pain, Navy veteran Bo Perry found his world shrinking. The ranch work he loved became harder and casting a line on the Yampa felt nearly impossible. When his shoulder finally gave out, he turned to UCHealth Orthopedics and to someone who understood him more than he expected. His surgeon, Air Force veteran Dr. Benjamin Kam, shared Bo’s love for the outdoors and his deep ties to military service. That connection built instant trust and together they chose a resurfacing arthroplasty, a specialized procedure designed to preserve Bo’s natural shoulder structure and restore his strength. Now recovering with determination and a whole lot of gratitude, Bo is already back to the routines that anchor him. He’s rebuilding the family cabin, preparing for long days on the ranch and getting ready to return to the waters he loves. His message to others living with pain is simple: “You don’t have to live with pain, whether the injury is old or new. Be proactive and get it fixed.”

The Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine, a collaboration between UCHealth and the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine, has now delivered more than one million genetic results directly to patients and their care teams. The information helps providers choose safer, more effective medications and identify disease risks long before symptoms appear. For Jim Jensen, it meant finding the right medications after heart surgery. For Constance Campbell, it meant discovering a BRCA2 mutation, information that helped her sister catch ovarian cancer early. With more than 130,000 participants and growing, Colorado’s biobank is one of the largest in the nation and one of the few that returns actionable genetic results to patients. Each sample helps move health care toward a future where prevention, precision and personalized medicine are the standard of care.

At UCHealth Longs Peak Medical Center, patient access specialists Leah Rose and Ruth Palacios make it a point to know every patient who walks through the doors. Over time, they noticed a group of men who always sat together before radiation treatments, turning casual chats into a daily support circle they eventually named the Radiators. Leah and Ruth embraced their role in the group, becoming the “Beam Team” as the men bonded over shared experiences and encouragement. Wanting to honor that connection, the pair surprised the Radiators with custom Beam Team mugs, which sparked emotional reactions. Even after completing treatment, the Radiators still stop by to welcome and support new patients beginning their journeys. Leah and Ruth say the group reminds them every day that compassion can turn a waiting room into a community. Thank you, Leah and Ruth, for your work to improve lives♥️

When Wendy Amendolari’s husband, Randy Weber, needed both a kidney and liver transplant in 2022, two generous donors stepped forward to save his life. Watching their selflessness changed Wendy forever. In honor of the donors who saved Randy’s life, she decided to do the same, donating part of her liver to a complete stranger. “I wanted to give it to anyone who needed it. I didn’t care if it was an adult or a child, a male or a female, whoever needed it,” she said. Wendy became one of fewer than 500 people in the U.S. to make a non-directed living liver donation, a rare act of compassion that gave someone she’s never met a second chance at life. Her transplant team at UCHealth calls her gift extraordinary. To Wendy, it’s simple. “It’s really gratifying,” she said. “And I feel lucky that I was healthy enough to share part of my liver.”
