UNFCU congratulates our Inclusive Organization Champion of the Month, BrianToia, FVP Program Management! "I always had a strong desire to help people and see them maximize their potential. Wasted talent is something I am always mindful of and in my experience a lot of that stems from a lack of opportunity, initiative or environment. That is why I have been so motivated to help UNFCU become a more inclusive organization to provide those opportunities for staff to tap into their potential. The staff at UNFCU is our greatest resource! It is so gratifying seeing people flourish and exceed expectations when they get opportunities they might not have had in the past. I look back on our annual UNFCU Foundation Golf Outing. It started out with very humble beginnings with a small team. We purposefully expanded opportunities for additional staff members to volunteer which has taken that charitable initiative to new heights. We had record breaking numbers in 2025 and had volunteers that knew very little about managing golf outings or corporate social responsibility. Now they have become leaders and subject matter experts in that field. It has been extremely rewarding seeing our volunteers take that initiative to new levels.” Brian enjoys watching his children compete in athletics (football, soccer, basketball and baseball). He also loves surf fishing on eastern Long Island and playing recreational golf with friends and family. UNFCU was proud to have just hosted our 8th Annual United in Sustainability Summit and first international convention in Montreal! We were truly inspired by insights and ideas from credit unions, their associations, the UN community, and other sustainability leaders that underlined a shared commitment to having a local impact on a global scale. Throughout the day, we explored how a wide range of sustainability topics intersect with the work of credit unions and the communities we serve. The energy, curiosity, and commitment from attendees was a powerful reflection of our community’s shared commitment. A heartfelt thank-you to our speakers who generously shared their expertise to spark critical conversations, as well as to our sponsors and volunteers. We look forward to building upon this momentum across our growing UIS Network in 2026. UNFCU's four Business Resource Groups (BRGs) joined forces and hosted a wonderful onsite event called “Mosaic: Pieces Aligned, Purpose United!” The event celebrated the richness of who we are as individuals, and how, when brought together, we form a unified and intricate picture. Through various performances, games and beautiful displays of artwork, pictures and videos, participants experienced connection, creativity and community. Each participant was an essential piece of this incredible mosaic. UNFCU's mentoring program, called Evolve, wrapped up this month, marking the end of another successful journey of growth, connection, and professional development. We had a record number of participants this year, with over 40 mentor and mentee pairs. Running annually from March to October, Evolve brings together employees from across the organization to build meaningful mentor-mentee relationships focused on career goals, new skills, and knowledge sharing. Employees gained new perspectives and tools to support their personal and professional journeys. As one participant shared, “It was an enlightening and impactful experience for my growth at UNFCU.” The importance of collaboration and learning is what makes our talent development programs such a valued part of our culture.
