The Baku to Belém Roadmap provides a comprehensive assessment of adaptation finance options, setting the stage for #COP30 to reshape adaptation finance for decades to come. The Roadmap recognizes that adaptation is already advancing — propelled by governments and communities worldwide, reshaping industries and livelihoods. Much more support is vital now. The Roadmap clearly addresses: 🎯 Private sector issues 🎯 Concessionality and debt restructuring 🎯 Financing locally led solutions 🎯 MDB financing for adaptation and reform measures 🎯 Insurance 🎯 Credit rating agencies 🎯 Financial stability board It includes a lot of potential decision text and recommendations that parties can take forward through UN Climate Change, as well as recommendations for other actors. Crucially, it includes a clear set of near-term follow-up steps. Adaptation must be financed, fast, and fair. This roadmap points firmly in that direction as negotiations are underway.

We are proud to announce a $1.4 billion investment in agricultural innovations. From climate-smart crops and livestock to digital tools and soil solutions, locally led innovation is helping smallholder farmers across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia adapt to climate change, boost productivity, and lift themselves—and their communities—out of poverty. Together, we can help smallholder farmers build resilience, protect progress, and create lasting opportunities. https://gates.ly/49CDzv9
CEO of the Gates Foundation. Working to ensure everyone can live a healthy life & reach their full potential. Father, husband, optimist.
Across Africa and South Asia, smallholder farmers—those who’ve contributed the least to climate change—are being hit hardest by its effects. A single extreme weather event—heat, cold, flooding—can create food shortages, loss of income, and push families deeper into poverty. I’ve witnessed the power of farmer-led solutions. From AI weather forecasting to mobile apps that offer planting advice—these innovations are helping farmers adapt to climate shocks, strengthen livelihoods, and secure a more resilient future for entire communities. That’s why the Gates Foundation is committing $1.4 billion over four years to support agricultural innovations that help smallholder farmers navigate a changing climate. The potential is even greater if governments, philanthropies, and the private sector join us in advancing these resilience-focused solutions. Let’s invest in the people who feed us all. https://lnkd.in/gU_aZ3Q4
