🏭Together with development assistance, investment in overseas industrial parks is a leading form of China’s international investment. ☀️And our research shows that they hold a great potential for reducing emissions by utilizing renewables: By 2050, converting all of the China’s overseas industrial parks to solar PV and wind power systems would bring the world 2% closer to reaching net zero. During #Thanksgiving, it’s worth reflecting on the systems that shape our traditions🌽⁣ ⁣ While it can be a meaningful time of gratitude for many, Thanksgiving is also rooted in a history of colonization and harm to Indigenous communities—a legacy that persists in the inequities of our food systems today. ⁣ About 40% of all food produced globally by weight is wasted between farm and fork. That 40% could feed every food-insecure person three full meals a day, every day, for a year — with leftovers. If current trends persist, this waste will double by 2050. But imagine what we could achieve by getting more out of the food we already produce.
