Campaign settings

Last updated: 2 weeks ago

Campaign settings act as limits for all Classic or Accelerate ad sets placed in the campaign. When using Classic and Accelerate ad sets in the same campaign, they must have the same objective type, bidding strategy, optimization goal, daily or lifetime budget, and schedule if Dynamic Group Budget is turned on.

Learn more about minimum campaign budget requirements.

Review the table below to understand how to set up a shared budget and schedule with or without a Dynamic Group Budget.

Campaign setting Description Available options Notes
Objective

You can turn on a shared objective for all ad sets in your campaign. Any ad sets created in the campaign will automatically select the shared objective.

You can also turn on budget optimization (or Dynamic Group Budget) when you set a shared campaign objective.

Turn on

Turn off

The shared objective can’t be changed or turned off after the campaign is launched.
Schedule

You must select at least a start date for all ad sets within your campaign.

You can also select an end date if your ad sets need to stop running on the same day.

Continuous schedule (start date only)

Set schedule (both a start date and end date)

If an end date is set at the campaign level, all ad sets within the campaign will stop running when the end date is reached.

Depending on your budget selection, you might be able to also set a start or end date at the ad set level to limit individual sets within the campaign.

Budget If you turn on a shared objective, you can also turn on budget optimization (or Dynamic Group Budget) to set your budget, bidding strategy, and schedule at the campaign level. Dynamic Group Budget automatically and continuously finds optimal auction opportunities for your campaign’s objective across all ad sets.    Daily Lifetime

When you turn on Dynamic Group Budget, the objective, budget, schedule, and bidding strategy are selected at the campaign level and apply to all ad sets within the campaign.

If you select a cost cap or manual bidding strategy at the campaign level, you’ll set the bid amount at the ad set level.

Keep in mind, manual bidding isn’t available for Accelerate campaigns.

If you don’t turn on a shared objective, you can set a lifetime budget to limit the spend of all ad sets within the campaign. Lifetime

If a budget is set at the campaign level, all ad sets within the campaign will stop running when the lifetime budget is reached.

When a campaign lifetime budget is set, a minimum unspent amount of $100 must be available to launch new campaigns.

You can also set a start date, end date, or budget at the ad set level to limit individual sets within the campaign.
