- I like to say running an LED stage isn't like rocket science, until it is. It's not like rocket science when you're looking through the viewfinder because it just looks like a real location, but it is like rocket science when you're assembling all these components and trying to get them to work together. So now is one of those rocket science moments. Let's examine the factors in an LED volume that can mess up the image. Really the number one optical issue that you're up against in an LED volume is moire. That's just a fancy word meaning a visible interference pattern. And this is what it looks like. We have this gray backdrop that we've set up specifically to highlight moire and when we focus directly on the screen, we're going to kind of rock back and forth through it.
