Architectural Digest’s Post

A sharply stylish couple DIY-renovated their own humble lakeside getaway. Berlin residents Julia Carloff-Winkelmann and Jan Winkelmann converted one 300-square-foot cottage in the community into a weekend home for themselves and their teenage daughter. The HR manager and the gallery director wanted to go beyond merely furnishing it to also do a good deal of restoring the cottage themselves. Tour the home 👉 https://lnkd.in/eeWMx7xT

Incredible work, Architectural Digest. Julia and Jan's DIY-renovated lakeside getaway is a true testament to creativity and craftsmanship. Their ability to transform a humble 300-square-foot cottage into a beautiful weekend home while preserving its charm is inspiring. It's amazing to see such a hands-on approach that not only furnishes but also restores and elevates the space. This project speaks to the power of design and dedication!!!

Love it! It’s colorful yet minimalist!

The wall to wall kitchen cabinets look great! And the combination of the bold ceiling lamp and minimal wall lamp is such a good choice. Jan Winkelmann and Julia Carloff-Winkelmann, we are curious if you kept the original flooring?

Amazing to see modest homes also being refurbished and repurposed. ♻️ You can sign me up on a long weekend here! ☝🏻 Julia Carloff-Winkelmann, I wonder if you found some pieces on Kleinanzeigen? ☺️

Feels claustrophobic but good

Very interesting, the interior looks like a 90s Video Game

The idea is to have a dwelling that fulfills your basic needs while allowing you to get the most out of nature itself.
