City of Melbourne’s Post

Our Garden City is coming into bloom 🌻 We’re stepping up our greening initiatives with help from our newly appointed Garden City ambassadors – celebrated landscape designer, Paul Bangay OAM, and highly respected member of the Wurundjeri community, Margaret Parisi. Melbourne will also be gaining a floral emblem to reflect our unique biodiversity and connection to nature. The best bit – it will be voted for by Melburnians! So happy to see a focus on indigenous plants and knowledge 🏵️ 🌿

Congrats Paul! I would have absolutely loved this position but glad to see someone with an incredible background has ended up receiving it. Please take great pride in your role and advocate for native, particularly locally indigenous plants. There is great potential for you to evolve the at times outdated themes of our City of Melbourne garndens!!! 👏🏻

Love seeing Melbourne blossom in both beauty and community involvement! Having local ambassadors guide greening initiatives and letting residents vote on a floral emblem is such a wonderful way to celebrate nature and our city’s unique biodiversity.
