Accessibility is integral to inclusive design. In our latest case study with Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD), Entro shares how we partnered with the Metropolitan Airports Commission to design tactile maps for key amenity spaces including restrooms, nursing rooms, adult change rooms, sensory spaces, and pet relief rooms. As one of the busiest airports in the region, Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport’s commitment to becoming the most accessible airport in the world guided this work from the outset. The project builds on a 2020 pilot and was developed through collaboration with Alliiance, the Travelers with Disabilities Advisory Committee (TDAC), State Services for the Blind, and a certified Braille proofreader involved in the Guidelines and Standards for Tactile Graphics. Their perspectives ensured the maps met the highest standards of clarity and usability. The result is a tactile mapping system that enhances wayfinding and reinforces MSP’s dedication to a welcoming, barrier-free travel experience. It’s a meaningful expression of Entro’s guiding principle of Designing for All. Want to learn from our designers?
