As recently featured in Pest Management Professional, the story behind Barricor® Essential Mosquito Control highlights how Envu teams take ideas from concept to reality — through scientific rigor, cross-functional testing, and incorporating direct feedback from customers in the field. Developed by Kyle Denk, Arunas Damijonaitis, and Debbie Koufas, this new space spray that launched in the U.S. earlier this year represents a breakthrough in mosquito management — a “green botanical” formulation based on essential oils that provides strong knockdown performance with no concern for drift on pollinators, humans or pets. 💎 As part of our ReNutriWater partners’ highlight series, we’re sharing key insights from Savonia University of Applied Sciences, one of our highly active partners during the project. 💧 Savonia University of Applied Sciences has taken an active role across multiple areas of the ReNutriWater project, from setting pilot assumptions and co-leading Work Package 2 (WP2) with Warsaw Waterworks, to contributing to three pilots, the WaterSafe Tool, and the Handbook. Currently, Savonia is focusing on WP3 activities implemented together with Centrum Balticum Foundation, including a popular webinar series for the Finnish target groups, which has attracted attention not only in Finland but also across Europe and beyond. From their pilot experiences, the Savonia team has gained valuable insights and inspiration for future work: 🔹 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 The pilot studies provided large sets of laboratory data that helped to understand which processes control physicochemical parameters and microbiology. Surprising results on pharmaceutical micropollutants confirmed that wastewater carries the entire lifestyle of a given society. The team also learned how freezing temperatures and treatment processes affect outcomes. 🔹 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 The project enabled cooperation with experts in water and wastewater technologies and policymakers in this field. We are excited to kick off our Gowanus Canal 4-part video series featuring Bioforcetech Corporation's Director of Development, Garrett Benisch. Earlier this fall, we shot a lot of our SHIrT campaign at the Gowanus Canal, an EPA superfund site in NYC that suffers from combined sewage overflow nearly every time it rains in the city. Wearing a solution to the Biosolids burden while afloat on a waterway burdened by outdated wastewater infrastructure truly drove it home: the future of wastewater is innovation like Bioforcetech's OurCarbon!
